The Word of God is Alive!

00 end time bible prophecy Word of God is alive

Commentary by:  Gordon King

The saying that “sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me” is not true.  Words cut like a sword.  They can leave open wounds which never heal.  They cause division and rivalry.  They cause nation to rise against nation, and man against man.  Words can be used for evil and hatred.  Satan loves to imitate God, however, he twists, turns, bends and lies!

Words can also be healing and comforting.  They can bring peace and spread love.  They can give eternal life to those that believe, as Jesus himself is referred to in the bible as “The Word”.

John 1:1   In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.”

James 1:21   ” … and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”

The Word of God is powerful.  The bible contains words necessary for Christians to live a Godly life.  Words of wisdom and knowledge to guide us through the evil paths of the world.

Colossians 3:16   “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another …”

Proverbs 4:20   “My son, give attention to My words; incline your ear to My sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.”

To give us prophecy regarding future events, which God wants us to be aware of.

Matthew 24:4-8   4Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

They give us hope, peace, comfort and security.

John 14:27    “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

They are presented to us as a gift for instruction and reproof.

2 Timothy 3:16   “16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,”

They offer us the Gifts of the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:7-11   Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.”

They are filled with the life of the righteous and the living.  They are both truth and light.  They are words of salvation and eternity.  Love and hope.

John 8:31-32  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,’ “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Psalm 33:4  “For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth.  He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.”

Romans 10:19   “That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.”

The words of God are alive.  They are powerful.

Hebrews 4:12   12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Speaking and believing the words of God will influence the outcome of any situation or circumstance.  Why?  Because they are the written words of the Almighty.

Isaiah 55:11    11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:  It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

They are more than merely words printed on paper.  They contain the Spirit of God.

John 6:63   “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life”

By reading, studying and keeping the words of God in your heart, you are planting the seeds of the Holy one.  God will manifest his “blessings” and “will” into your life.  You must have faith, you must believe.

1 Thessalonians 2:13   “For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.”

The bible is the written, inspired, Holy Spirit filled, true, powerful, infallible, living Word of God Almighty!

Read the Word daily.  Study the scripture.  Live the Word of God.

May the peace and safety of the Lord Bless you!  Amen
