A Lauderhill driver was reportedly attempting to flee the scene of a hit-and-run attack involving a 68-year-old woman when she slammed into a hydrant, filling the streets with gushing water. What happened next was a double shocker when a nearby car was suddenly swallowed by a sinkhole.

NYPD Officer Struck by Car in Queens Hit-and-Run: Officials

A police officer was struck by a vehicle while on patrol in Queens Thursday night, law enforcement officials say.

The officer was near 37th Avenue and 27th Street in Astoria when the vehicle hit him, then fled, officials said. 

The officer fired shots at the vehicle; it wasn’t clear if anyone was hit. 

The officer was taken to Cornell Hospital. His condition was not immediately known. 

The vehicle has been recovered; it’s not clear if a suspect was in custody.
