Authorities are responding to reports of an explosion and fire at a New Jersey naval station.

A spokesman for Earle Naval Weapons Station tells NBC 4 New York that injuries have been reported.

The U.S. Navy confirmed the explosion and fire via Twitter, and tweeted that the victims were taken to a hospital. The tweet didn’t indicate how many people were injured.

The station is in Leonardo, N.J. on Sandy Hook Bay.
