The Steps Liberty-Loving Americans Can Take

Exclusive: Alan Keyes challenges readers to respond to his clarion call

SOURCE

What follows is an excerpt from a reader’s comment on my column last week, with my reply. I suspect that there are millions of Americans who feel this reader’s sense of betrayal. I wonder how many of them, among the readers of this column, have the individual intellectual and moral courage to take even one readily accessible step toward doing something about it? Not long ago WND’s editor wrote an article recognizing that it might be long past time to take action. If enough people “let their yes be yes” in response to the simple challenge I make in this column, God knows what could happen.

Federal nullification efforts mounting in states

Brad Stemple, Gary Marbut

After Montana passed a 2009 law crafted by Marbut declaring that federal firearms regulations don’t apply to guns made and kept in that state, eight other states enacted similar laws. Marbut, a gun activist, said he drafted the measure as a foundation for a legal challenge to the federal power to regulate interstate commerce under the U.S. Constitution. (AP Photo/Matt Gouras)

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Imagine the scenario: A federal agent attempts to arrest someone for illegally selling a machine gun. Instead, the federal agent is arrested — charged in a state court with the crime of enforcing federal gun laws.

Farfetched? Not as much as you might think.

The scenario would become conceivable if legislation passed by Missouri’s Republican-led Legislature is signed into law by Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon.

Security and Safety. Is It Worth Our Freedom?

end-time-bible-prophecy-freedom

Commentary by:  Gordon King

What is our freedom worth?  Is it worth security and safety?   Giving up all of our Constitutional rights?  Is that what it has come to?  Our Freedom is at stake!

I for one, want peace, security and safety.  I think most of us do.  But at what price?  The American government was created to serve the people not the other way around.  Our Constitution gives us certain rights and privileges.   Among them are the right to free speech/religion, the right to bear arms, the right to a speedy trial by our peers, and the right against illegal search and seizure.

The government wants to take away these rights in the name of “security and safety”.  They say that it is necessary to spy on us and collect information to protect us.  From who?  From ourselves?  They say that in order to provide us with the freedom that we have loved for hundreds of years, they must impose more laws, regulations and control over us.

The government is an “Enormous Beast”.  A beast that continues to grow in size and power.  It’s appetite is never satisfied.  Give it more and it grows larger and consumes more.  The government never takes less or shrinks in size.  It only gets bigger and hungrier!

So what then, should we expect from the government to protect us?  What should we give in return for “peace and safety”?  I say that we keep all of our Constitutional rights.  The government is too big already and should be downsized.  Specific departments should be done away with.  In order to obtain peace and safety, our government is taking away from us our freedom, liberty, and viability as a people.

When we as a people give in to big government, we loose.  We become filled with doubt and fear.  We loose our ability to hope for a better future or trust in government and society.  Our lives become rigorous and futile.  The freedom that we once knew will only be found in history books.  This is the future of America, if continue on the current path that we are now on.

As for me, I say give me Freedom, give me Liberty!  In God I trust, not government!  That is what our Nation was founded upon.  Not Bigger Government!

God Bless everyone!  May the peace, comfort and safety of the Lord be with you all!  In the precious name of Jesus.  Amen

Obama: Massive seizures ‘modest encroachments’

President Obama Friday defended his administration’s massive seizure of private citizens’ phone records, email and Internet activities as “modest encroachments on privacy” that are necessary to fight the war on terrorism.

“Nobody is listening to your telephone calls,” Mr. Obama said at a hastily arranged news conference in San Jose, Calif. “They’re not looking at peoples’ names and they’re not looking at content. We have established a process and a procedure that the American people should feel comfortable about.”

Commentary By Gordon King

Happy Memorial Day everyone!  This is a day we all need to remember and cherish.  We need to honor the veterans who gave their lives defending this once great country of ours.  May the Lord be with them all.  I also give thanks and honor not only to the veterans who gave their lives for this country, but also for all of the veterans who have ever served in the United States military.  They also put their lives on the line.  Thank you all for your service to this country!  God Bless you and may you live in peace.

The story of America is the story of a rag-tag band of passionate individuals demanding freedom from oppression, intimidation and tyranny. They didn’t merely demand it with public protests; they demanded it with force… on the streets of Lexington and Concord, the beaches of Normandy and everywhere that the men and women of America have fought to defend the ideals that made America the greatest nation in the world.

IRS targeted groups that criticized the government, IG report says

IRS targeting those who speak out against the government

Juliet Eilperin
The Washington Post
May 13, 2013

At various points over the past two years, Internal Revenue Service officials targeted nonprofit groups that criticized the government and sought to educate Americans about the U.S. Constitution, according to documents in an audit conducted by the agency’s inspector general.

The documents, obtained by The Washington Post  from a congressional aide with knowledge of the findings, show that on June 29, 2011, IRS staffers held a briefing with senior agency official Lois G. Lerner in which they described giving special attention to instances where “statements in the case file criticize how the country is being run.” Lerner, who  oversees tax-exempt groups for the agency, raised objections and the agency revised its criteria a week later.

But six months later, the IRS applied a new political test to groups that applied for tax-exempt status as “social welfare” groups, the document says. On Jan. 15, 2012 the agency decided to target “political action type organizations involved in limiting/expanding Government, educating on the Constitution and Bill of Rights, social economic reform movement.,” according to the appendix in the IG report, which was requested by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and has yet to be released.

The new revelations are likely to intensify criticism of the IRS, which has been under fire since agency officials acknowledged they had deliberately targeted groups with “tea party” or “patriot” in their name for heightened scrutiny.

Abortion Doctor: I Would Leave Babies to Die Born Alive After Abortion

by Steven Ertelt | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com

In a second undercover video Live Action has released in two days, another abortion clinic staffer acknowledges leaving babies to die following failed abortions. The videos show there are other abortion clinics, abortion practitioners and staff who, like Kermit Gosnell, would leave babies to die after failed abortions.

First, the pro-life group released a video showing an abortion facility staff member saying an unborn child born alive after a botched abortion should just be flushed down the toilet. In this second video, leading D.C. late-term abortion doctor Cesare Santengelo admits he would leave a baby struggling for life after a failed abortion to die.

The video is the second in a series of undercover videos, found at www.liveaction.org/inhuman,  involving a number of late-term abortion clinics engaging in illegal and inhuman practices, as well as explaining in graphic terms what happens to the victims of late-term abortion.

“Hopefully we’ll get this pregnancy out intact, but it doesn’t always happen that way,” Washington, D.C. abortion doctor Cesare Santangelo tells an undercover Live Action investigator who is 24 weeks pregnant.  “I try and sever the umbilical cord first, and we wait for that to stop pulsing, and this way the fetus is expired first.”

When asked by the undercover investigator what would happen if the baby were to survive the abortion, Doctor Santangelo responds:

“Technically – you know, legally we would be obligated to help it, you know, to survive.  But, you know, it probably wouldn’t.  It’s all in how vigorously you do things to help a fetus survive at this point.  Let’s say you went into labor, the membranes ruptured, and you delivered before we got to the termination part of the procedure here, you know?  Then we would do things – we would – we would not help it.  We wouldn’t intubate.  It would be, you know, uh, a person, a terminal person in the hospital, let’s say, that had cancer, you know?  You wouldn’t do any extra procedures to help that person survive.  Like ‘do not resuscitate’ orders.  We would do the same things here.”

Live Action President Lila Rose called the practices “illegal and inhuman” and charged that they are a violation federal law – namely, the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act.

Rose told LifeNews: “It is clear from our investigation that Kermit Gosnell is just the tip of the iceberg.  Our videos expose the truly gruesome, illegal, and inhuman practices going on inside many of America’s abortion clinics.  Our investigation reveals that these inhuman practices make for just another day at the office to the doctors, nurses, counselors, and staff who engage in this abuse on a regular basis.”

In the video of the Bronx, New York abortion “counselor,” the staff member described how a born-alive baby would be placed in a jar of toxic “solution” to ensure death.

The videos are part of Live Action’s six-month undercover investigation shedding light on the illegal, inhuman, and gruesome practices of numerous clinics throughout the country.

“These clinics should be shut down,” Rose said, “and the doctors and clinic staff engaging in these inhuman and illegal practices should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.  It is time to stop infanticide in its tracks, and the only way to do that is to bring justice for these babies born alive but left to die.”

Rose is calling for Attorney General Eric Holder and the U.S. Attorney’s office to investigate and prosecute Dr. Santangelo, who is in violation of federal law.  Rose also called on local health and law enforcement officials to similarly investigate Dr. Santangelo and put an end to his illegal and inhuman practices.

From the letter Live Action wrote to Attorney General Holder:  “I do not exaggerate when I write that lives are at stake. Babies born alive from failed abortions have the same natural right to life, confirmed by the Declaration of Independence and protected by the United States Constitution, as any other human person. They must not be left to die, yet as Dr. Santangelo is caught on tape saying, “we will not help” them.”
