LAHORE, Pakistan: A five-year-old Pakistani girl was in critical condition on Saturday after being kidnapped and brutally raped in the eastern city of Lahore, police said.

The girl was found outside a hospital at around 8pm (1500 GMT) on Friday, said Lahore police chief Chaudhry Shafiq, a day after she went missing from a low-income neighbourhood in the city.

“We suspect that unknown men kidnapped the girl and after raping her threw her outside the hospital,” Shafiq said.

CCTV footage showed a security guard from Lahore’s Sir Ganga Ram hospital carrying the victim into the building on his shoulder after he found her lying on the road in a critical condition, said the police chief.

Doctors said the child was raped several times, added Shafiq, and after receiving emergency care was transferred to the intensive care unit of nearby Services hospital.

Norwegian woman who reported being raped in Dubai is jailed for 16 months

SOURCE

A young Norwegian woman has been sentenced to 16 months in jail after she reported a rape in Dubai.

The 25-year-old was in the United Arab Emirates on a business trip when she was raped and reported the assault to the local police.

Dubai police did not believe her, and instead took her passport and jailed her on suspicion of having had sex outside marriage.

The Norwegian woman reported the sexual assault in March this year, after which she had to spend days in a cell before she was allowed to use a telephone.

With the help of family members, the Norwegian consulate was able to negotiate a release and she has been living under the protection of the Norwegian Sailor’s Church until her sentencing this week.

‘I received the harshest sentence for sex outside marriage, harshest sentence for drinking alcohol and on top of that I was found guilty of perjury,’ the woman told Verdens Gang.

‘It is a terrible situation she is in,’ said Gisle Meling, the priest at the Norwegian Sailor’s Church.

‘We are very surprised and had hoped it would go another way, but we live in a country which has a justice system which draws its conclusions with the help of Sharia law.’

She was sentenced to one year and four months in jail but as Norway has no extradition treaty with Dubai, her future is uncertain.

The young Norwegian woman’s story is not unique.

Earlier this year Australian Alicia Gali, 27, spoke of how she was thrown in a Dubai jail for eight months after she reported a rape.

Miss Gali was working at hotel chain Starwood when her drink was spiked in the staff bar.

She awoke to find that three colleagues had raped her, but when she went to a hospital for help, they turned her over to the police and she was charged with illicit sex outside marriage.

Under UAE law, rapists can only be convicted if either the perpetrator confesses or if four adult Muslim males witness the crime.

Under the Sharia-influenced laws, sex before marriage is completely forbidden and an unmarried couple holding hands in public can be jailed.

Foreigners jailed in Dubai are deported immediately after completing their sentences.

The Justice Department survey, which polled group homes and jails for troubled youths, found that the teens were most often victimized by staff and counselors. A full 20 per cent of the respondents said they were assaulted more than 10 times. Over 8,500 boys and girls under 18 years old were questioned, with 1,720 reporting they had been assaulted.

5-year-old Indian girl battles for her life after kidnapping and brutal rape

A five-year-old Indian girl was battling for her life on Friday after being kidnapped and brutally raped in the latest incident of sexual violence which has triggered nationwide protests.

The girl was attacked inside a locked room over a 48-hour period, police said, after being abducted as she played outside on Monday in a lower-middle class area of the capital New Delhi.

“We initially registered a case of kidnapping. We have now launched a preliminary inquiry into rape and attempted murder,” Rajan Bhagat told AFP, adding a hunt was on to catch a family neighbour who is the main accused.

The child was admitted to the intensive care unit of a city hospital on Wednesday and doctors said her condition was “critical” as news channels provided wall-to-wall coverage.

“The girl was traumatised when she was brought to us. There were injuries to her lips, cheeks and chest wall. There were bruises on her neck,” R.N. Bansal, medical superintendent of a local government hospital, told NDTV news channel.

Doctors said the girl’s genital area had been mutilated and that objects had been inserted inside her, causing serious internal injuries and infection.

“We are keeping her under constant observation. The next few hours are going to be very critical,” Bansal said.

She was found after a passerby heard her crying and alerted the police.

The incident comes just months after India was shaken by the horrific gang-rape of a student in Delhi on a bus last year that triggered countrywide demonstrations and debate over the status of women and girls and their safety.

The woman succumbed to her injuries 13 days after the assault in which her attackers drove an iron rod inside her, damaging her internal organs.

The parents of the five-year-old girl, who was later moved to a better-equipped government hospital in the city, accused the police of being insensitive in their investigation.

“They were reluctant to register our complaint (that she was missing) when we approached them the first time. Then the police asked us to be content with the fact she was at least found alive,” the father of the girl said.

Scores of protesters gathered outside the hospital Friday where the child was admitted and shouted abuse at police for failing to investigate her disappearance properly.

Women’s rights activists condemned the incident, saying the injuries inflicted on the girl were shocking.

“This incident shows what kind of brutes do we have in society. Society is also responsible for this. It has become full of perverts,” said Ranjana Kumari of the Delhi-based Centre for Social Research.

Maldives: Rape Victim Sentenced To 100 Lashes

Premarital sex is illegal under the Maldives’ Islamic law

A 15-year-old alleged rape victim in the Maldives has been sentenced to 100 lashes and eight months under house arrest for engaging in premarital sex.

The girl admitted having consensual sex with a man in an incident unrelated to the rape.

Sex outside of marriage is illegal under the Islamic law of the island nation.

Police were investigating allegations that the girl had been raped by her stepfather when they uncovered the evidence.

The girl’s stepfather is facing 25 years in prison for the rape and allegedly killing a baby conceived from it.

Despite condemnation from the UN and Amnesty International, court officials have said the flogging will be carried out once the girl turns 18.

The Maldivian government has urged the courts to show leniency towards the girl, describing her as “traumatised” by the rape.

It is not known whether the her partner will also be charged with having premarital sex.

Last September, a 16-year-old Maldivian girl was sentenced to public flogging after she confessed to premarital sex. Her partner received a 10-year prison sentence.

The Indian Ocean nation is home to almost 330,000 people, and all of its citizens belong to the Muslim faith.

The public practice of any religion other than Islam is prohibited under Maldivian law.

Grand ayatollah: All Christian women may be raped

‘Their women and girls may legitimately be regarded as wives of Muslims’

Grand Ayatollah Declares All Christian Women May be Raped

www.frontpagemag.com  –  By

This is being reported a Syrian rebel declaration, but Ahmad Al Baghdadi Al Hassani is a Shiite Grand Ayatollah who hails from Iraq. He appears to be affiliated with some Syrian faction, but it’s unclear exactly which one, and has had his clashes with other Grand Ayatollahs.

Grand Ayatollah Ahmad Al Baghdadi Al Hassani’s declaration that Christians are polytheists is not unprecedented, but it does serve as a reminder of how fragile even Dhimmi People of the Book status is.

Jihadi leader Ahmad Al Baghdadi Al Hassani has spoken of Christians as polytheists and friends of the Zionists, in an Egyptian TV address. The extremist leader further stressed they must choose “Islam or death”, while their women and girls may legitimately be regarded as wives of Muslims.

That’s an indirect way of saying that any Christian woman or girl may be captured and raped, even if she is already married, since within Islam captive women may be raped by their captors.

The Iraqi Shiite Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ahmad al-Hassani al Baghdadi gave his call to murder Christians in an interview with Egyptian television station Al Baghdadia known. Al Baghdadi, who is one of the most radical representatives of the Islamic Jihad, denounced the Christians as polytheists and friends of the Zionists. The command of Al Baghdadis to the Christian minority in Iraq is “conversion to Islam or death.” The women and girls of the Christians “can legitimately regarded as the Muslim women,” said the Grand Ayatollah. Al Baghdadi, who comes from Najaf in Iraq, one of the “holy cities” of Shiite Islam, now lives in Syria, where he supports the armed struggle of the Islamists.

Al-Hassani’s website is down but the archive is full of the usual rantings about American conspiracies, but the only one paying attention to him was Robert Fisk.
