Pro-life grandmother attacked at abortion clinic

Was videotaping 4th botched-abortion victim in 5 weeks

By Garth Kant

A woman exited a Planned Parenthood clinic and smacked a camera phone out of the hands of a pro-life observer yesterday, but 63-year-old Rae Stabosz caught the assault on video, and it is now posted on Youtube.

Stabosz says she was threatened by a young woman as she stood outside an abortion clinic  in Wilmington, Del. In the video, Stabosz is seen calling 911 to report the threat when a young woman leaves the clinic, heads straight at Stabosz and knocks the camera out of her hands.

Someone can then be heard saying “get the f*** away” as the video shows a foot stomping on the phone.

Stabosz was treated and released from a hospital with minor injuries. But, first, she went into the clinic, retrieved her phone and resumed videoing.

Earlier in the day, Stabosz was praying outside the clinic when a woman and her mother arrived, according to LifeNews. Stabosz learned the woman had complications from an abortion performed March 8.

Stabosz persuaded the woman to go to a hospital, where doctors reportedly discovered a leg and a foot had been left inside her. The woman underwent surgery and was referred to an attorney.

After the incident, Stabosz, a Catholic grandmother of 12, went to Mass. When she returned to Planned Parenthood, she saw another medical emergency in progress.

That’s when she reported being assaulted. After she retrieved her phone, Stabosz videoed a gurney with an injured patient, covered entirely in blankets and sheets, being put into an ambulance.

Stabosz says they were the third and fourth abortion injuries at the clinic in five weeks. Two other medical emergencies took place at the Planned Parenthood clinic Feb. 8 and Feb. 16,  according to LifeNews.

Police arrived soon after the assault, and Stabosz filed a police report. Her attacker had left and is still at large.

“This is an amazing story of a pro-life hero who was willing to do what it took to aid women and document Planned Parenthood’s abortion abuses,” said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue and Pro-Life Nation.

“It is because of dedicated people like Rae that babies are saved, women are helped and the truth about abortion clinic abuses is finally getting out. Something is very wrong at this Planned Parenthood clinic where women are hospitalized almost weekly due to the shoddy practices there. This Planned Parenthood needs to be investigated and closed,” he said.

Planned Parenthood Drops Failing “Choice” Rhetoric on Abortion

Feminist blog Jezebel reports that, in an advanced press briefing yesterday, Planned Parenthood revealed a new strategy for how it will talk about abortion.

www.lifenews.com – By Matt Yonke

After polling Americans on how they feel about abortion and about the terms “pro-life,” “pro-choice,” and other language surrounding the abortion debate, the nation’s largest abortion chain is moving away from talking about abortion in the decades-old language of “choice” in favor of language that emphasizes the “difficulty” of the abortion decision.

Planned Parenthood has realized that the demographic they have to pursue and persuade is the majority of Americans who are somewhere in the middle on abortion.

Planned Parenthood Moves to Persuade the Squishy Middle

Most Americans believe it should be restricted in some senses — much more than Planned Parenthood would like — and so they’ve decided to shift from the decisive language of “choice” to the squishy language of moral ambiguity, which is where they would love the abortion debate to stay.

The change is important enough that Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards was on hand for Wednesday’s briefing. From Jezebel:

“It’s an opportunity to talk to an enormous number of people we haven’t been talking to as much as we should,” said Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, who was also in attendance to help introduce the organization’s upcoming advertising campaign, which will highlight how complex and personal the decision to have an abortion can be with taglines such as “Only you know what it’s like to walk in your shoes” and “Decisions about reproductive health are personal. You can help keep them that way.”

Trading Old Activists for New

Planned Parenthood Executive Vice President Dawn Laguens was also on hand explaining that the word “choice” is no longer relevant. She said it spoke to women who had fewer choices at the dawn of the feminist struggle, but that younger women who have all the choices in the world open to them are not moved to fight by the idea of choice.

Clearly this move is a play toward their younger constituency and away from their long-standing, older activist base, who will doubtless be livid that Planned Parenthood is throwing their sacred word, their rallying cry, to the curb. But times change and Planned Parenthood is nothing if not a fair weather friend as last year’s Susan G. Komen funding debacle showed us clearly enough.

And that is the crux of the issue. “Choice” was only ever a piece of rhetoric for the pro-abortion movement, and now it’s become a failed piece of rhetoric, so they’re on to the next thing. They’ll talk about whatever they have to to keep people from considering the clear moral issues in the abortion debate.

Pro-Life Response? Double Down

So what should the pro-life movement’s response be? I move we double down.

Planned Parenthood wants things ambiguous? We will continue to be clear and we will not change the terms of the debate.

We will show the victims of abortion in the public square. We will stand in witness and mourning outside their killing centers and offer help and clarity to abortion-bound mothers. We will continue to expose their moral failings and push our governments to regulate the abortion industry more and more tightly. We will save every unborn baby we can from the abortionist’s clutches.

In short, we will continue to do what we as a movement have always done because we are motivated by principle, not profit; by truth, not ambiguity; and above all, by love for all human beings—no exceptions.

Planned Parenthood Received $1,622 in Gov’t Funds for Each Abortion

The nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, reports it received $542 million from government sources in 2011-2012 while performing 995,687 abortions from 2009-2011. In 2011 alone, its clinics performed 333,964 abortions.

When broken down on an approximate annual basis, that means Planned Parenthood receives around $1,622 in government funds per abortion. From a time perspective, it translates to one abortion every 94 seconds.

Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, along with Board Chair Cecilia Boone addressed some of the challenges faced by the abortion giant in the past year, including the drama surrounding the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s temporary withdrawal of support.

“The past year will also be remembered as one when Planned Parenthood faced some of its most daunting challenges in our history – and once again emerged stronger than ever,” Richards and Boone wrote in their joint statement.

However, several pro-life organizations that consistently battle with Planned Parenthood were less enthusiastic about the group’s perceived success, saying abortions are not a viable form of health care for women.

“While government subsidies to Planned Parenthood have reached an all-time high, so too has the number of lives ended by this profit-driven abortion business,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Destroying nearly one million children in three years is not health care and does not reflect a concern for vulnerable women and girls. As Planned Parenthood’s funding goes up, abortions increase and real health services for women go down.”
