Monsanto executives and insiders are dumping Monsanto stock in record volumes, sending the stock price spiraling downward. CEO Hugh Grant just sold off 40,000 shares at $97.74, and both Janet Holloway and Gerald Steiner — both high-level Monsanto executives — recently ditched more than 10,000 shares each. Tom Hartley also bailed on another 6,000 shares at $100.15. (See sources below.)

 

Hedge funds, meanwhile, are also dumping Monsanto stock, most likely due to sharply increased “negative sentiment.” This means people increasingly don’t like Monsanto, and that’s a direct result of all the growing realizations about the dangers of GMOs, Monsanto’s predatory business practices, the company’s dangerous experiments that have already unleashed genetic pollution, and the fact that GM corn has been experimentally found to cause widespread cancer tumors in rat studies.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — New Zealand authorities have triggered a global recall of up to 1,000 tons of dairy products across seven countries after dairy giant Fonterra announced tests had turned up a type of bacteria that could cause botulism.

New Zealand’s Ministry of Primary Industries said Saturday that the tainted products include infant formula, sports drinks, protein drinks and other beverages. It said countries affected beside New Zealand include China, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia.

26 Qantas passengers struck down with gastro illness on QF28 from Santiago to Sydney

A group of 26 teenagers has been struck down with what is believed to be a gastro-intestinal illness on a 14-hour flight from Chile to Sydney.

The young tour group from Victoria was returning from Catholic World Youth Day in Brazil when group members became ill on the Qantas flight with vomiting and diarrhoea.

The group was met at Sydney airport at 6pm on Thursday by a fleet of ambulances and is receiving medical treatment for suspected gastroenteritis.

An ambulance spokeswoman says they assessed the group, and took 16 of them to hospital.

Three of the patients were so ill they had to be stretchered off the plane.

Diarrheal disease sickens 372, may be linked to salad

More than 370 people in 15 states have fallen sick due to a cyclospora outbreak, possiblly the result of a contaminated packages of salad mix.

An outbreak of a diarrheal disease that has sickened 372 people in 15 states since June may be linked to a bagged salad mix.

“The evidence points to a salad mix containing iceberg and romaine lettuce, as well as carrots and red cabbage, as the source of the outbreak reported in Iowa and Nebraska,” Steven Mandernach, chief of the Food and Consumer Safety Bureau of the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, said in a release Tuesday.

The investigation by Iowa and Nebraska health officials found that at least 80% of people in those states infected in the cyclospora outbreak had eaten a prepackaged salad mix.
