Police in Cook County, Illinois are demonstrating that, contrary to gun control proponents’ reassurances, a gun registry does eventually and inevitably lead to confiscation.

Last week, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that the Cook County Sheriff’s office has formed a special task force assigned to seek out Cook County suburb residents whose Firearm Owner’s Identification Cards have expired.

“The Chicago Police Department conducts regular missions to recover revoked FOID cards and seize guns from the holders, but there wasn’t a concerted effort to do that in Cook County’s suburbs,” Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart told the Sun-Times.

FBI Conducting Gun Sweeps in Oakland

FBI agents on way to conduct sweep in Oakland image via ktvu.com

Less than a week after SWAT police went house to house ripping families out of their homes during broad daylight in the manhunt that ensued following the Boston bombings, other police departments have seemingly taken a police state cue and followed suit.

Yesterday it was reported that FBI agents and local police SWAT along with the California Highway Patrol conducted a “massive sweep” of Oakland where they barricaded several streets and closed down certain parts of the town for more than an hour.

“It appeared to be an extensive operation with many officers involved,” KTVU reported, adding, “There were agents carrying out actions in numerous parts of the city Wednesday night.”

Armored vehicles and helicopters circling overhead assisted the patrols as law enforcement allegedly served warrants for drugs and weapons charges.

It’s reasonable to assume that the raids partially occurred as a result of SB 140‘s recent passage, an unconstitutional California bill touted as one that would expedite the confiscation of “illegal” firearms from people with “serious mental illness” and criminal convictions.

Reportedly, the tax-payer funded Oakland police did not feel it necessary to divulge details to news crews the night of the raid, saying “they were not at liberty to discuss what the action concerned.”

As we witnessed just last week during the Watertown, Mass. lockdown, a hit squad of 9000+ police could barely locate a lone unarmed 19-year-old.

Regardless of the excuses listed to justify this flagrant and hideous overreach of power, it has never been more evident that the public is being acclimated to accept militarized police of all flavors as a normal part of life; and with rhetoric regarding gun control reaching fever pitch, a true police state takeover like the one seen in the Boston suburb, is liable to occur in any town overnight and without warning.

Watch the important video below with over 2.3 million views discussing the forceful disarming of citizens as outlined in a 1961 State Department memorandum which explains how the United Nations will oversee “complete disarmament” of the American people under the ruse of preventing war.

Those in Oakland defending police actions as only targeting members of low income communities should be reminded of a quote by anti-Nazi theologian Martin Niemöller:

First they came for the communists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

City Wants Power to “Disarm Individuals” During Crisis

Guntersville authorities would confiscate guns of “unruly” individuals during disasters

Guntersville (Ala.) Mayor Leigh Dollar is working with city officials to pass an ordinance that would give police the power to “disarm individuals” during a disaster, a chilling example of how the second amendment is being assaulted via the back door.

The new rule would allow authorities to confiscate guns of “unruly” people during an extreme weather event such as the April 2011 tornadoes or any other emergency.

“The ordinance states officers could disarm individuals, if necessary, reports ABC 31. “Dollar says the proposal is just way to give officers more authority to protect themselves.”

Dollar denied that the ordinance would be used to take away constitutional rights, but residents questioned why authorities would need to pass a new ordinance given that police already have the power to arrest citizens who are being “unruly,” whether armed or not.

“Well, it seems like an infringement on the 2nd Amendment and that’s the biggest problem I have with it,” said Guntersville Music Academy teacher Paul Landry.

Authorities are seemingly attempting to mirror unconstitutional gun grab powers that were enacted in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

In the aftermath of Katrina, the New Orleans Police, National Guard troops, and U.S. Marshals confiscated firearms. “Guns will be taken. Only law enforcement will be allowed to have guns,” New Orleans Police Superintendent Eddie Compass declared as he prepared to violate the Second Amendment.

The National Guard conducted warrantless house-to-house searches, targeting not just Hurricane-hit areas under the pretext of stopping violent looters, but also high and dry homes that were not even affected by the storm.

Authorities even confiscated pistols from old ladies, as documented in the video below.

The Guntersville gun grab ordinance will be on the city council agenda at their meeting on March 4th.
