Why the Government Shutdown Is a Welcome Development

Charles Scaliger
The New American
October 6, 2013

With the partial government shutdown now in its fifth day, the rhetoric among Democrats and among the pro-Beltway mainstream media has reached a fever pitch, with the leaders of the Republican opposition being likened to jihadists and terrorists, and pilloried for their alleged callous and irresponsible behavior. The federal government, as a Reuters story observed on October 1 — without a trace of irony — has had to divide its functions and employees between “essential” and “non-essential,” and furlough or idle the latter. Thus, we now have the federal government reduced to discharging only “essential” functions — which, it turns out, is still roughly 85 percent of what it was doing prior to October 1.

Image: Government shut down.

Forgotten or ignored in all the jockeying for political advantage is the fact that the Founders limited the federal government in the Constitution to those functions that they deemed “essential” — that is, those things which only the Federal government could properly do, like negotiate treaties with foreign powers, declare and conduct war, run a postal system, and deal with disputes between the states. And, lest there be any doubt among their posterity of the limits imposed on their federal creation, the Founders then clarifies in the final amendment of the Bill of Rights — the Tenth — that powers not expressly delegated by the Constitution to the federal government were reserved to the states or to the people. The federal government, in other words, may exercise only those powers enumerated in the Constitution.

Why Are They Trying So Hard To Demonize Gun Owners?

Michael Snyder
American Dream
October 1, 2013

There is an all-out effort to demonize gun owners in the United States today.  Those that own guns are repeatedly portrayed as being uneducated, mentally deficient racists in the mainstream media.  No evidence is ever produced to actually back up those claims.  Gun owners regularly make lists of “potential terrorists” in official government documents, and many government officials openly regard them as ultra-paranoid “conspiracy nuts” that are a serious threat to national security.

Of course the truth is that gun owners are actually among the most law-abiding and patriotic people in the entire nation, but that doesn’t really fit with the radical gun control agenda of the progressive elite.  In order to move their agenda forward, they must make gun owners look bad, and they will go to ridiculous extremes in order to achieve that goal.  And to a certain extent, it is working.  As you will see below, some large financial companies no longer want to conduct business with gun owners, and just the sight of a gun is enough to get people freaking out and calling the police in many communities in America today.

Truckers roar to D.C. with impeachment movement

‘The goal is to wake up the sleeping giant, the people of America’

(WND) In less than two weeks, thousands of truckers will descend on Washington, D.C., driving their big-rigs and calling for the restoration of a constitutional republic – but now their plan has taken a new twist: Their friends and families will simultaneously join other Americans rallying on overpasses across the nation for Obama’s impeachment.

The Truckers’ Ride for the Constitution movement has a new ally in their protest against what organizers say is corruption in government and a trashing of the Constitution. The group is teaming up with Overpasses for Obama’s Impeachment to line the routes into Washington with flags during the Oct. 11-13 event.

Both Houses of Congress are tentatively scheduled to be in session Oct. 11.

Another Step Towards Gun Control?

Commentary By:  Gordon King

On Monday, September 16th, 2013, a mass shooting at a Naval Yard in Washington DC occurred.  Armed gunmen carrying an AR-15, hand guns and a shot gun,  opened fire killing at least 12 people and injuring an unknown amount.

Is this another step towards gun control in America?  I am not saying that this was a staged event or a false flag.  But, will it be used as yet another feather in the hat of the government, as an argument for gun control.  I think that it will.  Another government victory against the citizens of the United States.

We must stand together to protect our rights, our freedoms and our lives.  Without the ability to defend ourselves, we are sitting ducks for the criminally minded individuals.

I pray that God will intervene and protect our rights.  I pray for the peace, protection and safety of the innocent.  May God be with the injured and the families of the slain, to give them peace, comfort, healing and protection.  Amen
