Commentary By: Gordon King
Most people in this world don’t want to hear the truth, even when it’s staring at them right in front of their eyes! They would rather just believe whatever it is that makes them feel good, whether it’s a lie or the twisted truth.
The bible tells us the truth, the whole truth. In fact, Jesus Christ even told us that He is the truth!
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Jesus Christ is the truth, and there is no other way to heaven then by accepting Him as your Lord and Savior!
Jesus is the truth, and His word is the truth, His prophecies are the truth, and testimony of Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy!
The prophecies contained in the bible are the truth, and one must rightly divide the word of God to understand the truth. In the book of Revelation, Jesus tells us that if anyone adds to it or takes away from it then God shall take away his part from the Book of Life!
“For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
I believe that Jesus is not only referring specifically to the book of Revelation but His entire word, there are other passages in the bible that say basically the same thing.
“You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.”
“Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
6 Do not add to His words,
Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.”
With that being said, all believers must rightly divide God’s word, not add to it nor take away from it! If we knowingly misinterpret God’s word then we are changing it, and God warns us not to do that! Bible prophecy is of no private interpretation, meaning that we cannot base it upon our own opinions and beliefs, but strictly by the word of God.
2 Peter 1:19
“And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”
The bible interprets itself if we rightly divide it and understand it. We must allow the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, and we must pray for wisdom and understanding.
2 Timothy 2:15
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:7
“Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.”
“ For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding”
Twisting and changing God’s word in order to satisfy our own desires is ungodly and unholy.
2 Peter 3:16
“as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.”
Twisting the scriptures leads to destruction! There are many that twist the truth of God’s word, teaching another doctrine other than what is taught by Christ.
“I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
There are those that would rather hear lies than the truth according to their own desires!
2 Timothy 4:3-4
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”
And this leads us to where we are today, in the latter times, when some will depart from the faith, and give heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons!
1 Timothy 4:1
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,”
This my friends, is apostasy! The twisting of the truth leads to apostasy and destruction! The apostle Paul told us that just before the rapture of the church and the revealing of the Antichrist there would be a great apostasy. This is what I see happening in the world today, many people that profess to be Christians are turning away from the faith, turning from the truth, and instead believing in the doctrines of demons!
Know the truth, understand the truth, and believe in the Truth! For the Truth shall set you free!!!
God bless my friends! Maranatha! Looking up!!!!
