The Truth is Always the Truth, No Matter What Anyone Says!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

What is truth?  Is it something that we believe is right just because we believe it to be?  Can the truth be changed along with our changing culture and society?  Where does truth come from?  How does a person know what the truth actually is?

Our culture today tells us that certain things are the truth, when in reality they are lies!  Just because someone tells us that something is the truth doesn’t make it actually true.  And just because our culture changes, it doesn’t change the truth.  The truth is always the truth based in reality!

So, what is the truth and how can we know it?

Jesus Christ is the truth, He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), that is what God has told us, and He is the only way to heaven, there is no other way.  This my friends, is the truth!

God is the truth, and the things of God are the truth.  Whatever comes from God is truth, for He cannot lie.

Titus 1:1-3

Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;”

Hebrews 6:18

that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.”

Jesus Christ is the truth, everything from God is the truth, and He has given us the Spirit of Truth to be our guide so that we may be able to discern truth from lies in this world.

John 15:26

But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.”

The Holy Spirit will glorify Jesus Christ, guide us into all truth, will tell us of things to come, and will take the things of God and declare them to us.

John 16:13-15

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”

As believers in Jesus Christ, we know the truth, as long as we don’t deceive ourselves into believing lies.  The Holy Spirit bears witness of Jesus Christ and the truth.  However, if we do not heed the call of the Holy Spirit then we can believe lies and fall into deceptions.  The book of Acts tells us of a man and wife who sold off some land to give to the church, yet they lied and only gave a portion.

Acts 5:3

‘But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?” ‘

Acts 5:9

‘Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” ‘

Ananias and his wife Sapphira were saved, how do I know this?  Because both of them lied to and tested the Holy Spirit, this would not have been said of unbelievers.  Also, why would unbelievers sell off their land to give to the church?  They grieved the Holy Spirit.  The point is that even believers can be led astray and deceived if we allow ourselves to be, even believers can and do sin.

The Holy Spirit testifies, and bears witness of the Truth, Jesus Christ.  He leads us into all truth and discernment.  However, if we do not heed the Holy Spirit, then we are grieving the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

Grieving the Holy Spirit is not listening to the Holy Spirit and instead believing lies, by sinning, by living how the world lives, by not living according to the Spirit.  And if we do not heed the call of the Holy Spirit then we will also quench the Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:19

“Do not quench the Spirit.”

Quenching the Spirit is to deny what the Holy Spirit is telling us, it is suppressing the power of the Holy Spirit within us.  The apostle Paul tells us to put on the whole armor of God in order to stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6), however, if we quench the Holy Spirit, then we are unable to stand against the wiles of the devil and are subject to further attacks and falling away from the truth.

Jesus Christ is the truth no matter what anyone says, and the things of God are the truth!  Satan on the other hand is a liar, he is the father of all lies, and there is no truth in him.

John 8:44

You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

This is where we are in the world today, a world led by the devil, their father.  They don’t know the truth, nor do they understand it.

John 8:47

“He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

Only those of God know the real truth, for truth is God and from God.

Ephesians 4:17-19

This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.”

Those of the world, those that do not know God, do not know the truth.  Their understanding is darkened, they are alienated from God, because of their ignorance and the blindness of their hearts.  Romans 1 also tells us that they have suppressed the truth in unrighteousness, because God has shown them the truth.

Romans 1:18-19

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.”

They have exchanged the truth of God for the lie.

Romans 1:25

“who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”

And because they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, He gave them over to a debased mind.

Romans 1:28

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;”

This is exactly what is happening in the world today my friends, people have debased minds, they have exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and they are now worshiping the creation rather than the Creator!  Don’t believe me?  How about Climate Change, worshiping the earth and the environment rather than worshiping God?  How about the changing of pronouns, the promotion of homosexuality, transgenderism, and child mutilation?  They are doing things which are not fitting!

The sad thing is that so many people believe these lies, they have turned them into the truth.  However, just because they say that they are the truth doesn’t make them the truth!  Truth comes from God, our morals and ethics come from God, and that is why they are turning away from them.

We can change the truth by lying about it, but the truth is still the truth!  We can change God to our own liking, but God is still who He is regardless, He will never change!  It’s not God who changes, it’s us!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!  Looking up!!!
