Commentary By: Gordon King
The world is becoming more wicked and evil, more ungodly. Immorality is at an all-time high (at least since the days of Noah). Good is being turned into evil, and evil into good. People have lost their moral compass as they fall further into the trap of sin and sinful lifestyles. The culture of today is a culture of death and destruction, and it is being promoted by world leaders across the globe!
The point is that without God there is no moral compass, there is no right or wrong, and anything goes! This is where the world is today, in a whirlwind of chaos, confusion, and immorality. This is what happens when the world pushes God out, when they say that they know better than God does!
2 Timothy 3:1-5
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! “
1 John 3:7-8
“ Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. “
God tells us what is right and what is wrong, He is the one that gives us a moral compass, and He does it for a reason. He knows that sin is evil and only leads to destruction, that no good can come from it, and it will lead to our demise. Sin is the antithesis of God, for God is good and sin is wicked and evil.
“For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations”
God is good! He is good, He is always good, there is no evil in Him.
So, you may be thinking, what does this have to do with love? What’s love got to do with it?
Well, I’ll tell you, everything!
First of all, God is love.
1 John 4:7-11
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
God so loves us that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us as a propitiation for our sins, so that we may live and have eternal life! This my friends, is the greatest love, to give your life for another, as Jesus did for us!
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
Love, it’s what the world is lacking these days, and instead is turning to wicked and evil ways. If the world loved God, then those of the world would also love each other. We wouldn’t be seeing such evil running rampant every day!
“He who does not love does not know God” (1 Jn 4:8).
This is the world my friends, a world without God! That is why there is so much sin in the world, it’s because those of the world are not born again! They do not know God.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we may not be able to change the direction that the world is headed, however, we can make a difference in people’s lives. We can share God’s love so that others can also come to know God!
It is a command from God for us as believers to love each other as God loves us. This is what we are here for, to spread love and shine a light into the darkness! If not, then He could have just taken us home after we were saved, but He didn’t.
Love, it’s God, it’s what we are here for, and while it may not change the world, it can change lives by saving them!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
