Commentary By: Gordon King
It’s not so easy these days being a believer in Jesus Christ, there is so much opposition to us and our beliefs. And if you truly stand for God and His word then it can seem like a daunting task to do what the Lord has called us to do. Yet it is not us who does these things but God within us, it is by the Spirit of the living God that we are able to do what we do for the Lord.
Some of us compare ourselves with other believers and what they are doing or have done for God, and in a way I can see some benefit from it. We can be encouraged to do our best and strive to do better, but it can also discourage us into believing that even the smallest thing that we do for God is not really good enough. When I compare what I have done for the Lord with what some other believers have done for the Lord I at times feel worthless, but who is to say what is good enough for God? I believe that all things done in the name of God and for God are worthy and good, no matter how big or how small we think they might be.
‘Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury;44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” ‘
Jesus tells us that the poor widow who gave two mites (equivalent to a few cents) had put in more than all who had given to the treasury, because she gave of what she had, her whole livelihood. All of us will be rewarded for what we have done here on earth for God and in the name of God, I do know this.
Not all of us are the same, we don’t all share the same experiences in life, and we don’t all have the same abilities or means. God knows us, He knows our heart, and He knows if we are doing the best that we can or not. He also knows that things in this world are not so easy for many of us these days, it’s not a shock to Him, He knows this.
What matters is what we do for and in the name of God, and if it truly comes from our heart. With that being said, we have many distractions these days, distractions and evil attacks against us, both spiritual and physical, God also knows this also. He knows that many believers around the world are suffering for His name sake, and they shall be rewarded for it.
What really matters to God is our faith and trust in Him, that we love Him as much as we can with all of our heart, and out of that love for Him we will perform His will in our lives. His will for each and everyone of us is the same and different. What do I mean by that?
All of us are called to spread the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are called to be a light unto the world, we are to love one another, to help one another, to be kind, honest, and forgiving, to encourage and teach one another, in these ways His will is the same for all of us. However, I believe that each of us also has a separate calling as well, and in this way they are different. Some are called to preach God’s word, some to be missionaries, some to be doctors, lawyers, servers, drivers, whatever it may be. Some of us are also called by God to warn others of what is coming, as watchmen on the wall, to ring a bell, to sound the trumpet.
Whatever our specific calling from God maybe we are to do it to the best of our ability, and that ability may not always be the same depending upon our circumstances, and God knows this. For myself, the good Lord called me to spread His word through this website, to shine a light into the darkness, and to warn others of what is coming and of the signs of the times. It hasn’t always been an easy task, and at times I feel as though I have fallen short of this calling, but God knows my heart, He knows that I love and trust Him in and through all things. He also knows of all of the hardships and spiritual attacks that have come against me, and through it all I have prevailed, maybe not as well as I wish that I had, but nevertheless I have prevailed. I have also been called by God to work with the infirmed in healthcare, and I believe that for the most part I have done this to the best of my ability.
Over the years I have been under many satanic spiritual attacks, one after another it seems, unrelenting, and at times multiple attacks at once. Some of the things that I have gone through in my life are the consequences of not listening to and following God, and some things in life just happen for one reason or another, but many, many more have been evil spiritual attacks from the enemy. It hasn’t been easy, in fact it’s been quite difficult at times, yet I have continued with my faith in God, I have trusted in God to see me through, and my faith in God has grown stronger. And even though some times have been overwhelming and unrelenting, I continued to trust God, knowing that in the past He has always been with me and protected me. This is what it takes to overcome the darkness and adversity, by putting on the whole armor of God, by loving God with all of your heart, by seeking the Lord in all things, even and especially through the darkness!
Even as I write this post my computer keeps freezing up, I keep loosing my internet connection, as if someone or something doesn’t want me to write this post. And as I try to look up bible verses my internet connection freezes. Merely coincidence? Perhaps, but perhaps not! I don’t believe in coincidences, everything happens for a reason.
The following is an excerpt from Psalm 23, one of my favorite Psalms that has seen me through some very difficult times indeed!
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Quite an inspiring verse, one that gives me great comfort knowing that God is with me through the darkness.
‘Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” ‘
God will never leave us nor forsake us! What a wonderful thought. God will never leave us, nor will He abandon or give up on us, no matter what we do or don’t do! It’s not what we do that saves us but all that He has already done for us.
There have been many times when I have felt like just giving up, like what I have done for the Lord just wasn’t good enough. Feeling overwhelmed by life, by the world, by the darkness, overwhelmed with distractions, with satanic attacks, feeling that I was not good enough to perform God’s will in my life, that I really wasn’t making any difference in anyone’s life. Then I came to my senses!
The good Lord told me from the very beginning of starting this website that if I could just plant some seeds in order to open the eyes of even one lost soul that would lead them to salvation that it would be worth it. That if I could encourage other believers, that if I could pray for others, that if I could just warn the world of what is coming and relate it to bible prophecy then it would have all been worth it! Well my friends I would have to say mission accomplished! Not that I have done such a great job of it, I know that I haven’t, nor am I finished, the Lord is not yet done with me, this continues to be my calling from God until He tells me otherwise! I don’t really know how good of a job that I have done for the Lord, but I do know that it only takes the faith of a mustard seed, and I have more than that. And just perhaps when I do get to heaven the good Lord will tell me that the one seed I have planted has grown into many!
Many people may not like what I write or post here, and that’s ok. Not everyone will agree with me, and they have the right not to. But that will not stop me from doing what the Lord has called me to do, I must listen to and obey the voice of my Lord, Jesus Christ, not the voice of man. And as the days grow darker, the times more perilous, satanic attacks increasing by the day, I shall continue to do the Lord’s calling in my life. This is not my home, heaven is my home, and I shall do as the Lord wills, for this is what I am called to do, through the evil, through the wickedness, through the pressures of this world.
We are in the middle of a spiritual war, Christians worldwide are under satanic attack. This warfare is increasing by the day, it is vicious and unrelenting. We were warned by the apostle Paul of this war.
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.“
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”
This is warfare my friends, spiritual warfare, against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Our weapons are mighty in God.
“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints“
Our weapons in this spiritual warfare include: truth, righteousness, preparation of the gospel, faith, salvation, the word of God, and prayer and supplication in the Spirit.
Putting on the whole armor of God each day is walking in the Spirit.
“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
It’s not easy living in the world these last days, and we are told in scripture that it wouldn’t be. So we shouldn’t be shocked when we see the world turning against us like it is now. We should be listening to and obeying the voice of the Lord, whatever He is telling you to do, whatever your calling. We don’t do it of our own accord nor can we, but by the Spirit of the living God, by the Holy Spirit within us.
I pray that someone reading this post will be encouraged by it, that they may find rest, peace, and comfort, that they will know that they are not alone in this fight! Amen.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
P.S. After I finished writing this post I am having trouble posting it nor is it updating, website is not responding. Internet connection is good. Someone doesn’t want me posting this! Attempting to post 9/17/21 at 8:25 pm.
