Commentary By: Gordon King
The days are dark and growing darker by the minute. Spiritual darkness has overtaken the world and we are living in times that are filled with evil and wickedness.
We are being told that good is evil and evil is good.
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
There are those that are putting darkness for light and light for darkness, who are putting bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. It’s a world turned upside down!
Lies are being told as the truth, and the truth is being suppressed in unrighteousness.
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.”
This is a battle my friends, a spiritual battle, and evil spirits are out seeking whom they may devour. Many of you may be seeing this take place in your own lives, and it wouldn’t surprise me if most of you say that you do. We see this taking place in the world all around us on a daily basis, it’s not by chance that these things are happening, not by coincidence, but by the word of God. God told us that these things would happen in the end times and they are!
Evil spirits are out against us, and especially believers in Jesus Christ. They do not seek the will of God but of Satan. They are not benevolent but malevolent! Theirs is to steal, kill, and destroy, and that’s exactly what they are attempting to do.
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
They seek to steal from us, not only physically but spiritually, and they seek to steal our soul. They seek to kill and destroy us, our life, our livelihood, our relationships, our health and well being, even our relationship with God, everything that they can lay their hands on, to devour us.
1 Peter 5:8
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
This is no joke my friends, it’s real and it’s happening now! These spirits are real, wicked and evil to the core. They are the antithesis of God and His morals and values.
And what do we see taking place in the world today? Everything that God is opposed to, and it’s happening at an alarming rate of speed. They will even possess those that they can, and others they will lead into further darkness. They will lead the willing to do evil deeds and sway them into performing Satan’s will.
“And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs.”
These evil spirits have the ability to place thoughts into our minds, to change circumstances, and to lead us in the wrong direction. They can cause us harm, they can destroy our lives, and they can place fear and doubts into our minds and our hearts if we allow them to.
The end times just before the rapture of the church are likened to the days of Noah, when the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and every intent of the thoughts of man’s heart was only evil continually.
“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”
“Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Are we there yet? Has the world gotten so bad that the wickedness of man is great in the earth? Is every intent of the thoughts of his heart only evil continually? I don’t know, but it sure seems to be getting very close to that these days if we are not there already.
Men (secular men) today are pushing God further and further away, suppressing the truth in unrighteousness. They are calling good evil and evil good, putting darkness for light, and light for darkness, putting bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter. We are seeing a growing persecution against Christians, and growing antisemitism in the world today. It’s really difficult to believe that it could get much worse before Jesus Christ comes back to rapture the church!
“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
It’s becoming much more difficult for a believer in Jesus Christ to live in the world that we do today, and it’s only going to get worse from here on out my friends.
When all seems lost, when evil and wickedness surrounds you, when you believe that you are under spiritual attack by evil spirits, then seek the Lord, seek the Lord in all things! The Lord is our shield, our refuge and our fortress, He is our protector and our comfort.
‘He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.” ‘
Some of you may be saying that it sounds so easy when you say it but not so easy in reality. Well, I never said that it was easy, and I know from experience that it’s not! But it is something that we must do.
Life can be difficult enough, but add to that multiple and constant attacks from evil spirits and it almost seems impossible! But it’s not, for with God all things are possible. God tells us to come to Him in and for all things, to seek Him continually, to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
1 Chronicles 16:11
“Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually.”
“How blessed are those who observe His testimonies,
Who seek Him with all their heart.”
Seek the Lord with all your heart! Continually seek His face. Seek Him first in all things.
We must trust in the Lord at all times, but especially so in times of trouble. Being a believer in Jesus Christ is all about trusting God. And even though we may find ourselves walking through the valley of the shadow of death we must know that God is with us! He will never leave us nor forsake us.
I know how difficult life can be, especially when we are under spiritual attack, I’ve been there many times before and I’m there now. It’s very, very difficult to say the least, at times unbearable. But the Lord is honest and true, He never lies, and His words will last forever. I trust in God at all times, through the good and the bad times, through thickness and through thin, and He always keeps His word! Trust in God and have faith.
Let us also remember that these dark times will only last for a short while, that they too shall pass away. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
I believe with all of my heart that the rapture of the church is near, that what we are seeing take place in this world is a sign, a sign that His return for us is even at the door! Increasing spiritual darkness is a sign of the closeness of Christ’s return, and that’s good news!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
