Commentary By: Gordon King
As believers in Jesus Christ we must have faith in God, for without faith it is impossible to please Him, without faith we would not have ever been saved!
After saying that it’s true that believers in Jesus Christ do have at least a little faith. But just how much faith do we have? Do we trust God in and for all things? Do we believe in the promises of God?
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Our faith increases as we read, hear, and study God’s word. This is how we grow in Christ. However, we can also grow in Christ by following Christ, by putting His words into action, by walking as He walked, by performing God’s will in our lives.
When we perform God’s will then we are also pleasing to God, for we are walking by faith. A faith that what God says is true.
When we pray to God then we must wait upon God for answered prayer. This doesn’t always happen right away, in fact it could take a very long time. Or just perhaps God has answered our prayers but we don’t like the answers. It’s all according to His will and not our own. Waiting upon the Lord means to be waiting and trusting in God, trusting that He will answer our prayers.
Over time we can see the hand of God in our lives, this is our experience with God. This shows us that we can trust Him, and that He does listen to us. And if we can trust Him in the things that we have experienced with Him then we can also trust Him with the promises that He has made to us in scripture as well!
I don’t know about you, but I have experienced the hand of God in my life over and over and over again! I can look back at my life and see God working, I can see many miracles that He has performed in my life, things that would never have naturally taken place, situations that I shouldn’t have been able to overcome, but I did, and they were by God Himself!
It’s about our faith and trust in God, the more faith and trust in Him the more we shall see these things happening in our lives, and our faith and trust in God increases! That’s not to say that we will not endure difficult times for we all will, it’s about overcoming those times because we know that God is with us and for us! It’s about placing our faith and trust in God and not in this world or the things of this world.
I trust God, I trust what He has done, is doing, and will do in my life. And I trust in the promises that He has made to each and every believer!
He has forgiven us of our sins.
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace”
“As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
He says that He will prepare a place for us and will come again to take us where He is, and where is He? In heaven!
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
He says that He will make us like Him.
1 John 3:2
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”
He tells us that we have received an inheritance.
“In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,”
“He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.”
One day there will be no more death, no sorrow, no crying, and no pain!
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
We will live with God in a very beautiful place forever!
“And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.”
“The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.”
These are only a few of the promises of God, and I believe that every single one of them will someday come true!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
