Commentary By: Gordon King
These are perilous times my friends, times when most people don’t know which way to turn, when even many believers are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and confused.
In times of darkness we should be that much closer to God. It is through the darkness, through the pain and suffering that we should be stronger in our faith, standing firm upon the foundation of our salvation, Jesus Christ!
These are uncertain times, times when anything could happen and it is! But ours is not to focus on the world or the things of this world but on God Almighty. We should not place our faith and hope in the things of this world, in the leaders of this world, but upon our leader Jesus Christ. God is our hope, He is our King, He is life itself!
We know that the world will get darker as time goes on, that wickedness will be widespread, and that the evil one will institute his plans, his wicked schemes and agenda. This is what we are told in bible prophecy and it will come to pass. God told us these things so that we would not be ignorant, so that we would have knowledge of things to come.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being priest for Me;
Because you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children.”
The good Lord wants us to know these things so that we may have life, so that our children may have life, falling away from God leads to death and destruction. He told us these things so that we would not forget the laws of our God, the knowledge of God, of who He is, of His morals and values, of His promises to us! God knows that many shall fall away from the truth in the last days, that many would be deceived and be led astray.
But He also told us these things that are about to come so that we would have hope, hope in His promises to us, that what He says will happen will actually happen! The prophecies of God prove that God is who He says that He is, that all things shall come to pass.
We can wander off, we can be led astray if we do not focus on God and His word. It’s very easy these days to be led astray by the world, by the things most people believe and the things that they do, the things they consider just normal parts of everyday life. And it’s not getting any easier these days, in fact much, much more difficult!
The things that God told us would come to pass in this world are both warnings for us to heed, but also confirmation that God is righteous and true, that He is in control, that He knows all things and is Almighty!
God does not want us to be deceived, to be led astray and follow the ways of the world, for in doing so we are not worshiping God but the world and the gods of this world! This is what the enemy wants, to lead us away from God, to lead us into destruction. Falling away silences our voice for the truth, for righteousness, for God’s morals and values, and we see that is exactly what the enemy is doing today, attempting to silence the voice of the righteous!
This is a spiritual warfare my friends, what we see happening in the world is spiritual in nature. It is all being led by spiritual beings from another dimension. We ourselves are spiritual beings, and as such we must fight the battle spiritually, by prayer and supplication, by doing the right things, by upholding God’s spiritual morals and values.
So many believers are led astray, they believe that doctrines of demons, they follow the ways of the world, they compromise with the world. This is what God warns us about, to heed such things, to not be led into deception, to not fall away from the truth, from God Himself!
When things in this world get darker we as believers should be holding onto God with a tighter grip! We should become even closer to God in our walk with Him. We must know the truth, for the truth will set us free! We must have knowledge of God’s word, we must stand firm in it, and we must not sway from it. As times become even more uncertain we must hold to what is certain, God!
Only God is certain, only the things of God will last forever, and only God knows the future! If you want certainty then study God’s word, if you want to rest assured then listen to God, if you want a peace that only God can give then trust in Him and Him alone!
“The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Ours is not of this world but of the Kingdom of God, we are merely here for a short while, we are destined for greater things!
“He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.”
The world is an uncertain place, it is getting darker by the day, but the things of God are certain! Hold fast to what is true, stand firm upon the Rock of your salvation, and do not be led astray!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
