Commentary By: Gordon King
It’s not easy being a believer in the world today, in fact it’s darn right difficult and can be very overwhelming and disheartening to say the least!
The world that we now live in is under satanic attack, and as children of God we are on the front lines. We are being attacked by Satan and his minions, being lied to, persecuted, hated, falsely accused, and some of us are unjustly imprisoned, tortured, and even martyred for our faith. Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and we are the first to be attacked, and he will do everything in his power to condemn us, to discourage us, and attempt to lead us astray.
If you are feeling discouraged, disheartened, depressed, or overwhelmed, then know that you are not alone! At times I feel the same way, yet I know that if I wait upon the Lord then He will renew my strength, give me courage, and comfort me.
“Though youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,
Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
We are in a battle my friends, a spiritual battle! You can sense the evil and wickedness in the air, the presence of evil spirits. They are real, and they are out for no good! It’s not enough for us to try and fight alone, we all need each other. We must comfort one another, encourage one another, and pray for one another!
God gave us the ability to help one another, to carry each others burdens, to comfort and encourage one another, to comfort those that are in any trouble. He comfort us so that we may comfort each other.
In this world we will have tribulations, but be of good cheer for Jesus Christ has already overcome the world!
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or dismayed, for God is with us!
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
“And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
We are here on this earth to perform God’s will, and that includes helping each other, comforting and encouraging each other. We are not here to do it on our own nor should we, but as the body of Christ, with Christ as the head of the church.
You may be physically alone, but that does not mean that you are alone. You may be living with someone that isn’t a believer, but that doesn’t mean that you are alone either. We all have each other, perhaps not in the flesh but in the spirit. We are all in this fight together, as one body, the body of Christ!
We must pray for each other, stand by one another, encourage and comfort one another, this is what God wants from us, and this is what we should do, it’s the right thing to do, the godly thing to do!
Have courage and be strong for the Lord our God is always with us! Amen.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
