Commentary By: Gordon King
There is but one way to be saved, one way to enter the kingdom of God, one way to be born again, and unless a person is born again he or she will not see the kingdom of God!
‘Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” ‘
Many people believe that no matter what they believe or don’t believe, that one day everyone will get to heaven. But my friends, that is not the truth! The truth is that only those who are born again will ever see heaven. We must be redeemed from our sin debt, we must be purchased by God through the blood of Jesus Christ!
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”
As Christians we have been purchased with a price, the ultimate price, by the shedding of innocent blood, by the shedding of perfect blood, the blood of God Almighty! And once purchased we are sealed as a guarantee of our inheritance and our possession by God. And one day all those in Christ shall be gathered together to Him!
“ 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.”
Christians, the church, shall be gathered together with Christ, both those in heaven and on earth. When will this occur? In the dispensation of the fullness of the times. What does that mean? I believe that it means the dispensation, or the time period of the church, when the fullness or completion of this time has occurred then Christ will gather us together in Him, also called the rapture of the church! We don’t know exactly when this will happen, however, the apostle Paul tells us in his letter to the church of the Thessalonians that there must be a falling away from the faith just before this takes place.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-4
“Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.”
We shall be gathered together to Christ after the falling away at the end of the last days, just before the Antichrist (the man of sin, the son of perdition) is revealed. It is the taking out of the way of “He who now restrains” (I believe the Holy Spirit filled church) that will trigger the revelation of the Antichrist.
2 Thessalonians 2:7-8
“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.”
Once He who now restrains is taken out of the way we’ve been raptured!!! And it is at this moment, we will be transformed, that we shall be changed, conformed to His glorious body!
“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”
We shall be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet!
1 Corinthians 15:51-54
‘Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” ‘
When we are raptured we shall be changed, our corruption will be replaced with incorruption, and our mortality will be replaced with immortality! It has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is!
1 John 3:2
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”
As believers in Jesus Christ this is our blessed hope, the glorious appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! When our corruption will be replaced with incorruption, and when our lowly immortal bodies will be changed into glorious immortal bodies like Christ’s!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
