Many people don’t believe that Jesus Christ is God, does this make a difference?

Commentary By:  Gordon King

There are many people that argue with me that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, but that He Himself is not God.  I for one 100% disagree with them!  In fact, the bible tells us over and over again that Jesus Christ is in fact God!

I’ve written many posts about Jesus Christ being God, here are a few of them:

Did Jesus Christ claim to be God?!

Do not be Deceived! Jesus Christ is the one, true, living God!

The Word of God is the Truth, and Jesus Christ is the Word, He is God!

Immanuel, Jesus Christ, God With Us! The Hope of our Salvation!

Jesus is God!

And here is a post that I re-blogged from the website of Dr. Gold, God’s Hidden Nuggets for the EndTimes:

Revelation of God’s Name- the Lord Jesus Christ

Even the name Emmanuel was given to Jesus which means “God with us”.

Matthew 1:23

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:13

For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Whose name is it that we must put our faith in to be saved?  None other than Jesus Christ, no other!

Acts 4:10-12

let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Jesus Christ is the Lord, He is God!

The apostle Paul wrote in his letter to Titus stating that Jesus Christ is our great God and Savior!

Titus 2:13

“Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,”

Isaiah the old testament prophet also states some of the names of Jesus:

Isaiah 9:6

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

The mighty God!  Hmmm, difficult to refute that one isn’t it?!  Written in black and white my friends, black and white, it couldn’t be more clear than that, yet people will still disagree and argue about it!

If Jesus Christ were not God Himself then His sacrifice for us was in vain.  If He died in vain then none of us are saved, none will ever get to heaven!  If Jesus Christ were merely a man then He could not be a perfect sacrifice for us, that’s the whole point my friends, Jesus Christ must be a perfect sacrifice, it’s the only way that He can take away our sins, only God can do that.

Only God can forgive sins, Jesus Christ did that very thing!

Luke 7:48-49

‘ Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49 And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” ‘

And if He were merely a man, then why would we be just like Him once we are glorified, when we see Him as He truly is?  We are being transformed into His image.

1 John 3:2

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

2 Corinthians 3:18

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

Our glorification is our changing into the image of Jesus Christ, and if Jesus Christ were not God then why would we ever in a million years be transformed into His image?  It makes no sense whatsoever!

1 Corinthians 15:46-49

However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.”

We shall be changed into the image of the heavenly Man, the second Man, the Lord from heaven, Jesus Christ!

No one can be forced to believe that Jesus Christ is God, it comes from the scriptures, from the truth of God’s word.  I suppose that a person could read the scriptures and give them a different meaning, but then what is the sense of reading them in the first place?  What good does it do?  And my friends, if you say that you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior but do not believe that He is God then are you actually born-again?  Only those that are born again will see the kingdom of God!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!
