If you don’t know Jesus Christ now is the time!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

We are living in unprecedented and uncertain times with this Coronavirus Pandemic, times when things are changing on a grand scale, when what we used to know as “normal” is now a thing of the past.  These are times of great peril, times of fear and depression, times that affect us all!

Many people have fallen into depression and anxiety, many people have turned to drugs, alcohol, and other so-called pleasures in life as an escape from reality.  They seek a way out, a way to remove themselves from their pain and suffering, and many have even chosen suicide as an alternative way to escape the madness!

But are these truly ways to escape the reality of the world?  Or are they merely more ways to intensify the pain and suffering?

The bible tells us that in this world we will have tribulation.

John 16:33

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

We will have tribulation in this world, but we may have peace in Jesus Christ.  These aren’t my words but the words of Jesus Christ Himself!

Only Jesus Christ can give us true peace, even through times of trouble.  Does this mean that our troubles don’t exist?  No, of course not, but only God can give us peace through our trials and tribulations.

2 Thessalonians 3:16

“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way.  The Lord be with you all.”

The good Lord gives peace to those who focus on and trust in God.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.

We must remember that in this world we will suffer trials and tribulations, it’s not a matter of if but when.  And when we do then we must make sure that we are right with the Lord, focused on the Lord, and trust in the Lord!

It’s not really a matter of escaping what the world brings our way, but of escaping God’s judgement and wrath upon the world, but even more importantly of escaping eternal damnation in hell!

Matthew 10:28

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

We shouldn’t fear those who can kill our body but fear God who is able to cast us into hell!  The bible makes it very clear that if we are cast into hell then it is forever, we are not destroyed instantaneously, it goes on and on and on for eternity!

Matthew 25:41

Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

2 Thessalonians 1:9

“These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,”

The Lord tells us to fear these things, to acknowledge Him as our Lord and Savior, to trust in Him, to seek Him in all things.  The only way that we can do this is by being “born-again”, being saved by Jesus Christ our LORD.

John 3:3

“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

This is the only way to escape hell, the only way to get to heaven, the only to see God’s kingdom, the only way to have true peace.  He tells us to repent of our sins.

Luke 5:32

“I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Acts 2:38

‘Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” ‘

Acts 3:19

“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,”

But before we can repent of our sins we must first acknowledge that we have sinned!  This is very important, we must see our sin for what it truly is, sin against God!  It is only then that we can truly repent of our sins, this takes a humble heart.

Once we repent then we must believe, believe that Jesus Christ is who He said that He is, God!  We must believe that Jesus Christ came to earth as a man and God at the same time, God in the flesh.  That He came to sacrifice Himself on the cross for our sins, because the bible says that the penalty for sin is death, that means eternity in hell.  Jesus Christ is the only one, the only way, the only truth, there is no other way to eternal life, no other way my friends!  We must believe that He died on the cross, was buried 3 days in a tomb, was resurrected, and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father (God).

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

If we humble ourselves and do these things then the bible says that we are now born-again, we have been made a new creation, we are saved from eternal damnation to live with God for eternity, to live in God’s kingdom!

The times that we live in are uncertain at best, they are perilous!  We have no assurance of what comes next, from day to day, from month to month.  Times are changing, the world is changing, people die everyday, most without even know what lies on the other side of death.  But it doesn’t have to be that way, you don’t have to not know, you don’t have to worry about what should happen to you after you die.  Things in this life are uncertain, and that includes just how long each one of us has to live.

The bible tells us that there is but one God.

James 2:19

“You believe that there is one God.  You do well.  Even the demons believe and tremble!”

Isaiah 43:10

“…Before Me there was no God formed,
Nor shall there be after Me.

Isaiah 43:11

I, even I, am the Lord,
And besides Me there is no savior.

1 Timothy 2:5

“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,”

There is one God, yet He is composed of a Trinity, 3 distinct individuals, yet one God.  This is very difficult for our small human minds to understand and grasp, but it is the truth!  God is composed of the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.  They are one and the same yet distinct from each other.  Don’t get stuck on this, we will not truly understand it until we do get to heaven, and even then we will have all of eternity to get to know Him, that’s how long it will take!

Don’t wait another day, not another minute, get saved now!  Become born-again, know where your eternal destiny lies.  All of us will live on forever, but where will it be?  There are only two choices, heaven or hell, that’s it, no alternatives.  Become a child of God Almighty!  That’s what He wants for you.

2 Peter 3:9

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

Get Saved Now!  Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!
