Commentary By: Gordon King
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.“
The world is overwhelmed with fear and panic over the Coronavirus outbreak, so much so that you don’t really see much else being reported in the news lately, whether it be earthquakes, wars, threats of wars, famine, plagues, we just don’t see it, but it’s there. What happened with the locusts in invasions and fear of mass famine? What about the threats from Iran to annihilate Israel? What about the war in the Middle East? We all know that these things are still happening yet we don’t hear anything about them.
My point is that this Coronavirus Crisis has caused such fear and panic throughout the world that nothing else seems to really matter right now, everything else has taken a back seat no matter how bad it may be. God told us that just before His return for us (the church) that these things would happen, that there would be on earth distress of nations, that men’s hearts would be failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth!
“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
He tells us that when these things begin to happen then look up and lift up your heads, because our redemption draws near! This is what Jesus Christ our Lord told us, He is telling us now that His return is near, that our redemption is drawing near!
If we are born-again, if we are believers in Jesus Christ, then we have nothing to fear but fear itself. The good Lord has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind!
2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Instead of fearing what is coming upon the earth we should be rejoicing, for our Savior is coming soon to take us home, to change our earthly bodies into bodies like His, into perfect immortal bodies that will live forever with Christ is heaven!
1 John 3:2
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”
1 Corinthians 15:51-53
“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.“
Jesus didn’t say that He left us here to create a perfect world for Him to come to, but that He went to where His Father is in heaven to create a place for us, that where He is we would be also.
This world is not for us to perfect, things will get worse before they get better, Jesus told us that. Let us not get so overwhelmed that we lose track of who we are, let us not fear, for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but rather let us increase our faith of our Lord and Savior for who He is, for Him doing exactly what He said that He would do, for bible prophecy coming to pass just as it is written in scripture.
This is the time to repent of your sins, to bow down before the Lord and repent, to humble yourself before Him, to give Him all of the praise and worship. This is not the time to fear but to trust, to place all of your faith and patience in the Lord! For He is faithful and true my brothers and sisters, faithful and true always!
And if you are not saved, if you have not been born-again, and if you don’t know what that means then you haven’t been, then I strongly urge you to do so now. Today is the day of salvation, there might not be another tomorrow! If you do not already have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ then you do have much to fear, but you don’t have to!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
