The Truth of God’s Chosen People, Misinterpretations or Lies?

Commentary By:  Gordon King

I have been accused of misinterpreting the bible and of not telling the truth!  I was told that I have misrepresented the scriptures by saying that the Jews are still God’s chosen people, that Israel is still God’s chosen nation, and that the 70th week told by the prophet Daniel has not yet happened!

We must all be able to discern the truth from lies, and we must know what God is telling us as the truth without taking it out of context, twisting it, changing it, adding to it or taking away from it.   I am not a bible scholar, I don’t know everything, and I can make mistakes just like everyone else, in fact none of us know all of scripture and what it all means, not one of us!

The world we live in is full of antisemitism my friends, just full of it!  It is spreading throughout the world like a festering cancer, and unfortunately it has also entered the church.

There are many believers who think that the church has replaced Israel and the Jews and God’s chosen people, that the Jews have in fact been forsaken by God Almighty!  Well my friends, if this in fact were true then all of us should wonder if we are still saved or not, all of us should question God’s promises to us.  For if He would turn His back on His chosen people, on His chosen nation, then what’s to keep Him from doing the same with us?!!!  God has made unbreakable promises to each and every believer, to give us eternal life, to give us an eternal inheritance, and to reward us for our good works!  How then can we say that we still have any of these things if we don’t believe that God has kept His unconditional promises to the Jews?!

God is NOT done with the Jews!  He has NOT forsaken them!

Like I said, I don’t know everything but this is how I see things from a biblical perspective.  God tells us over and over again in scripture that He is most definitely not done with the Jews!  Do these verses sound like God is done with the Jews?!

Jeremiah 33:7-9

And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first. I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned and by which they have transgressed against Me. Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them; they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it.

Absolutely not!  How about the following verses?

Jeremiah 33:19

And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, 20 “Thus says the Lord: ‘If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season, 21 then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, My ministers. 22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured, so will I multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.’

God is telling us that His covenant with the Jews cannot be broken unless His covenant with the day and the night can be broken, in other words God’s covenant with the Jews will last until there is no more day or night!

The prophet Ezekiel speaks about the Jews being revived and taken back to their own land, Israel!  Notice that the Lord calls them “My people”.

Ezekiel 37:12-14

Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. 14 I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it,” says the Lord.’ “

Why did God bring the Jews back to the land of Israel in 1948?  It wasn’t for the sake of the Jews but for the sake of God’s name!  It was because God keep’s His word and His promises and He want’s the world to see it and to know it!

Ezekiel 37:21-23

Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. 23 They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God.

Where in the preceding verses does it say that God has forsaken Israel?  It doesn’t, in fact it says just the opposite, that the Jews shall be His people and He will be their God!  I’m not making this stuff up God said it!  I’m not misinterpreting scripture, it’s right in front of our eyes plain and simple, no misinterpreting here!

Those are prophecies of the past, although very recent past and very significant meanings for us today, such as the signs of the last days and the coming Day of the Lord!  However, the following is a prophecy regarding a coming war with Israel God’s chosen nation, against God’s chosen people the Jews!  The Ezekiel 38 War!

Ezekiel 38:14-17

‘Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On that day when My people Israel dwell safely, will you not know it? 15 Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army. 16 You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.” 17 Thus says the Lord God: “Are you he of whom I have spoken in former days by My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied for years in those days that I would bring you against them?’

Where is the misinterpretation if I say that the Jews are God’s people and Israel is His nation?  God says over and over that Israel is His nation and refers to the Jews as “My people Israel”, where have I misinterpreted that?!  That’s just it, I haven’t !!!

Ezekiel 39:21-29

“I will set My glory among the nations; all the nations shall see My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have laid on them. 22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day forward. 23 The Gentiles shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity; because they were unfaithful to Me, therefore I hid My face from them. I gave them into the hand of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. 24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I have dealt with them, and hidden My face from them.” ’

25 “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Now I will bring back the captives of Jacob, and have mercy on the whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name— 26 after they have borne their shame, and all their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, when they dwelt safely in their own land and no one made them afraid. 27 When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and I am hallowed in them in the sight of many nations, 28 then they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them captive any longer. 29 And I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,’ says the Lord God.”

The Jews sinned against God and were unfaithful to Him, they were punished severely for their transgressions, but still God did not break His covenant with them!  In fact God says that He will bring them back from captivity and have mercy upon them, and shall pour out His Spirit on the house of Israel.  Does that sound like God is finished with Israel and the Jews?  Come on folks, this hasn’t even happened yet, it’s still a future prophecy!

God even tells us through the prophet Samuel that He will not forsake His chosen people Israel and the Jews!

1 Samuel 12:22

For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people.

So please tell me how I am misinterpreting scripture when it clearly states that the Lord will not forsake His people.  He doesn’t do it for the Jews, but for His name’s sake and because it has pleased Him.  The following verses are talking about during the Day of the Lord when He will judge all nations on account of His people and His heritage Israel.

Joel 3:16

The Lord also will roar from Zion,
And utter His voice from Jerusalem;
The heavens and earth will shake;
But the Lord will be a shelter for His people,
And the strength of the children of Israel.

The apostle Paul tells us that the Lord is most definitely not done with the Jews!

Romans 11:1

I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Romans 11:26-27

And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:

“The Deliverer will come out of Zion,
And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;
27 For this is My covenant with them,
When I take away their sins.” ‘

There will be a remnant of Jews who will be saved at the end of the Tribulation period.

Matthew 23:38-39

See! Your house is left to you desolate; 39 for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

Zechariah 12:10

And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

The following videos give further explanation of the errors of “replacement theology” and why Christians should support Israel.

There is much, much more contained in the bible stating that the Jews and Israel belong to God, that the covenants He made with them last forever, and that the last 7 years before Christ’s return is the Day of the Lord and has not happened yet!  This is the other thing that I have been accused of, of falsely interpreting the scriptures regarding the last week of the 70 weeks the prophet Daniel spoke of.

The 70th week has NOT already happened, nor has the Abomination of Desolation!

Daniel 9:24-27

“Seventy weeks are determined
For your people and for your holy city,
To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,
To seal up vision and prophecy,
And to anoint the Most Holy.

25 “Know therefore and understand,
That from the going forth of the command
To restore and build Jerusalem
Until Messiah the Prince,
There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks;
The street shall be built again, and the wall,
Even in troublesome times.

26 “And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”

Daniel 9:25 talks about what happens after the first seven and 62 weeks, the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the presentation of Jesus (the Messiah) as the Prince.  Daniel 9:26 talks about Jesus being cut off or sacrificed and the city and sanctuary or temple being destroyed.

Daniel 9:27 talks about the confirmation of a covenant with many for one week by “he”, who is “he”?  I believe that “he” is also the “prince that is to come”.  Daniel tells us that “he” shall confirm a covenant with many for one week or a 7 year period.

Daniel 11:31

And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation.

He defiles the temple of God by the forces that he mustered, and they shall take away the daily sacrifices by him, then place there the abomination of desolation.  I’m not making this up it’s in the bible my friends!  I truly believe that these verses are speaking of the Antichrist!

Daniel 11:36-37

Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. 37 He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all.

The Antichrist will exalt himself above all, he shall speak pompous words against the Most High, he shall persecute the saints!

Daniel 7:24-25

The ten horns are ten kings
Who shall arise from this kingdom.
And another shall rise after them;
He shall be different from the first ones,
And shall subdue three kings.
25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High,
Shall persecute the saints of the Most High,
And shall intend to change times and law.
Then the saints shall be given into his hand
For a time and times and half a time.

Jesus even tells us about the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet.

Matthew 24:15-22

Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

Then He tells us that those who are in Judea to flee to the mountains, and woe to those who are pregnant in those days, for then there will be great tribulation, such has not been since the beginning of the world until this time nor ever shall be!  When in the history of the world have we seen such tribulation?!  He goes on to say that if the days were not shortened then no flesh would be saved.  My friends, it has never before in history been so bad that no flesh would be saved, even during the time of Noah he and his family were saved along with two of each kind of animal!

The tribulation period has definitely not happened my friends.  Jesus told us about it just before His crucifixion and it hasn’t happened since then.  And since that time the temple has not yet been rebuilt so it can’t happen until that time, at least not the abomination of desolation!

The apostle Paul tells us in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

He is speaking about the abomination of desolation!  The very same thing that Daniel and Jesus spoke about.  He is telling us these things so that we would not be deceived by anyone!  And what day is Paul talking about?  The rapture of the church and the Day of the Lord!

2 Thessalonians 2:7-12

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I honestly believe that “He who now restrains” is the Holy Spirit filled church!  And the lawless one is none other than the Antichrist, the prince who is to come, the king in Daniel 11:36, the “he” in Daniel 27, all one and the same!

And the abomination of desolation cannot take place until “he”, the lawless one, is revealed!

Revelation 13:11-18

Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. 15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

The Antichrist has not yet been revealed, the abomination of desolation has not yet taken place, the world has not yet seen such tribulation that no flesh should be saved, or have we been forced to take the mark of the beast!  No, all of these things have yet to come, they are all future prophecies.   Believe it or not!  Believe what you will, as for me this is what I believe from scripture!

The bible also speaks about a one thousand year period in which Christ will rule and reign on earth, then do we also believe that this has already passed?  Has the New Jerusalem already come down to earth from heaven?  Have we already been glorified and made like Christ?  If so then I am more than a little disappointed!  And if we are now living in heaven like some believe then we have really been given a boat load of lies my friends!  A boat load!

The following video is a short synopsis of Chuck Missler on Daniel’s 70 weeks.

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. Gordon, if you haven’t read it yet, there’s a recent article at UNSEALED on the same topic. Thank you – LOTS of well developed research and info.
