Denying the Power of God, another sign of the Last Days!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world, He was buried in a tomb for three days then arose from the dead and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father.  As Christians we believe these things to be the truth, but how many of us actually believe that they actually happened?!

It really amazes me at just how many Christians don’t actually understand the bible and the significance of it.  They don’t really seem to understand just how great our God is nor does it seem that many of them really care!

Do we as followers of Christ actually know that Jesus Himself is holding every single atom in the entire universe together?!  This just astounds me as I cannot even begin to grasp the enormity of the universe and all that it contains, it us unfathomable to the human mind.  Or do we really understand the significance of Jesus creating the entire universe?

We live in a world that is confined to size, shape, and time, and most of us cannot really grasp the reality of what is beyond those limitations.  Most cannot even grasp the reality of other dimensions such as the things of the spirit, but I would argue that they are even more real then the world we see around us, for they are eternal and will last forever!

Without faith our minds are limited to the physical world and what is natural, but with faith we can go beyond the physical and the natural to the spiritual and the supernatural!  Without faith we cannot believe in God nor can we be pleasing to God.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

It is by our faith that we believe in God, it is by our faith that we believe God is who He says that He is and does what He says that He does!  It is by our faith that we believe the entirety of the bible to be the true, infallible written word of God Almighty!

And if we believe in God and His word then we also believe in many things that the world does not, such as Jonah being swallowed by a great fish, such as the parting of the Red Sea, of the Great Flood of Noah, of Jesus performing supernatural miracle after miracle, and of Jesus being raised from the dead and ascending into heaven!

The point is that God is so much greater then we could even imagine, that He has no bounds or limitations, that He is everywhere at all times, that He is all powerful and almighty, that He is all knowing of the past, present and the future!

Have you ever stopped to think about just how big the universe really is?  It’s so big that no one really knows, and it’s expanding all the time.  Wikipedia states that the mass of the universe is 1053 kg, that’s a 10 with 53 zeros, or 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 kilograms!  What kind of a number is that?!!!  It’s so enormous that a person could not even imagine it!

Every time that scientist think that they know the size of the universe they find out that they don’t!  And every time that they believe they know how many galaxies are contained in the universe they then find out that they were wrong and there are actually many more exponentially!

John 1:1-3

In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were made through Him, and apart from Him nothing was made that has come into being.

The good Lord is so much bigger than His creation, so much larger and greater than the universe, and whose to say that there are not more than one universes?!  We don’t know what lies beyond this universe, heck, we can’t even understand this one it’s so expansive and complex!!!

Everything that was made were made through Jesus Christ, He created everything!

Colossians 1:15-17

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

It takes faith to believe that Jesus Christ is who He says that He is, it takes faith to believe in God Almighty!  It takes faith to believe that God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, and it takes faith to please God!

Hebrews 11:1-3

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Many believers don’t understand what we as Christians have obtained from the Lord.  First and most importantly He has saved us from the penalty of our sins and given us what we don’t deserve, eternal life with Him!

John 10:28-30

And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.

He has also made kings and priests, God’s own special people, a holy nation!

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Revelation 1:6

and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

We also have obtained an inheritance and been sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise who is the guarantee of our inheritance from the Lord, meaning that what belongs to Him belongs to us as well!

Ephesians 1:11-14

In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.  In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

We are children of God, and as God’s children we are heirs of God and joint heirs of Christ.

Romans 8:16-17

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

I don’t know about you but that’s enough for me!  But that’s not all, God continues to pour out His love and blessings upon us!  We shall all sit at the Bema Seat Judgment in order to received rewards for what we have done on earth in the name of the Lord.  We shall rule and reign with Christ here on earth and into eternity!  We shall live in a new city called the New Jerusalem with streets of gold and walls encrusted with precious jewels, there shall be no sun or moon for the glory of Christ shall illuminate it forever!  None of us know exactly what the Lord has prepared for us, but it will be much, much better than we could ever imagine!!!  The grace and blessings of God Almighty are endless and His mercies endure forever!

1 Corinthians 2:7-12

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

The mercies and power of God Almighty go hand in hand, we see it throughout scripture, and if we look at the universe we see it each and everyday!

Psalm 136

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the God of gods!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords!
For His mercy endures forever:

To Him who alone does great wonders,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who by wisdom made the heavens,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who laid out the earth above the waters,
For His mercy endures forever;
To Him who made great lights,
For His mercy endures forever—
The sun to rule by day,
For His mercy endures forever;
The moon and stars to rule by night,
For His mercy endures forever.

10 To Him who struck Egypt in their firstborn,
For His mercy endures forever;
11 And brought out Israel from among them,
For His mercy endures forever;
12 With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm,
For His mercy endures forever;
13 To Him who divided the Red Sea in two,
For His mercy endures forever;
14 And made Israel pass through the midst of it,
For His mercy endures forever;
15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea,
For His mercy endures forever;
16 To Him who led His people through the wilderness,
For His mercy endures forever;
17 To Him who struck down great kings,
For His mercy endures forever;
18 And slew famous kings,
For His mercy endures forever—
19 Sihon king of the Amorites,
For His mercy endures forever;
20 And Og king of Bashan,
For His mercy endures forever—
21 And gave their land as a heritage,
For His mercy endures forever;
22 A heritage to Israel His servant,
For His mercy endures forever.

23 Who remembered us in our lowly state,
For His mercy endures forever;
24 And rescued us from our enemies,
For His mercy endures forever;
25 Who gives food to all flesh,
For His mercy endures forever.

26 Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven!
For His mercy endures forever.

Praise the Lord and give Him thanks, for His mercies endure forever!

We are told in scripture that in the last days there would be people who deny the power of God, they will have a form of godliness but deny it’s power.  Many of these people profess to be Christians, and many are Christians who have been led astray and deceived falling into apostasy!  As believers and followers of Jesus Christ we must believe the entirety of the bible as the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!  We must believe that God is who He says that He is, believe in all of His promises, for if any of it is not true, if He breaks even one promise, then He is not who He says that He is!

Believe in the Lord and the power of His might, don’t take anything for granted, but give Him thanks for all that He does and all that He will do!  Do not deny the power of God, but instead bow down in humility and adoration at His awesome and magnificent power!  Amen.

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. Amazing! Thank you Gordon.

    God is beyond our imaginations, I was only thinking today about our digestive systems and how we get nutrition from our food and expel wastes and toxins my mind was blown just thinking about how wonderfully we are made and how God thinks of everything.

    Hope you are doing well.

  2. Thanks for your comment Christine!

    It is beyond words what God has done, from the largest of things to the smallest of things, absolutely magnificent. Another thing that astonishes me is how our bodies can heal themselves from illnesses and wounds, how many people ever think about such things?!

    I am blessed! God is good, and even though I struggle daily battling the enemy I know that God is with me every step of the way!

    God bless! Maranatha!
