Commentary By: Gordon King
The world is a mess, there are disasters both natural and man-made, there are many things in this world for us to fear, and the times upon us can cause us to run amok! However, as born-again children of God Almighty we are not to fear “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7)”.
Ours is not one of fear or lack of self-control, but of the power of God within us! And when times get difficult we are to trust in the Lord, we are to trust in the Lord at all times.
When the world seems to be falling apart all around us we can be calm and have an inner peace, we must be still and know that He is God!
The Lord is in control of all things, “all things”! There is nothing that happens in this world that He doesn’t already know about, nothing that He does not allow to happen, for all things are held together by God.
God is all-powerful, He can stop anything from happening if that is His will, He can also make things happen according to His will.
We should not be surprised when we see evil increasing in the world, when we see increased natural disasters, when we see the sea and the waves roaring, for we are told beforehand that they will happen! Every last word in scripture will come to pass, every prophecy in scripture will come to pass, it is God’s word.
We must trust in God’s word, we must believe everything that He says as the truth, and we must believe in the promises of God!
We are told in God’s word that disaster is coming to the world, not in order for us to fear, but in order for us not to fear! He told us beforehand so that we would know that when it happens it is all according to God’s will. We were told before hand so that we would know that He is God, that what He says is the truth, that He is faithful and just, that He is who He says that He is!
And the world will see that He is God, yet most will still not believe.
“But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him,“
The world has seen the handiwork of God, but they will also see the power and the might of God Almighty!
“The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.“
The time is soon coming for God to pour out His anger and wrath upon a wicked and evil world, just as He did upon Sodom and Gomorrah, just as He did with the great flood of Noah, but I say that this time will be even worse!
But the good Lord will rapture His children before this time occurs, for this time is a time of God’s indignation upon the wicked! I believe that Isaiah was speaking about the rapture of the church in Isaiah 26:16-21, of what will happen to the church just before God pours out His wrath upon the world.
“Lord, in trouble they have visited You,
They poured out a prayer when Your chastening was upon them.
17 As a woman with child
Is in pain and cries out in her pangs,
When she draws near the time of her delivery,
So have we been in Your sight, O Lord.
18 We have been with child, we have been in pain;
We have, as it were, brought forth wind;
We have not accomplished any deliverance in the earth,
Nor have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
19 Your dead shall live;
Together with my dead body they shall arise.
Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust;
For your dew is like the dew of herbs,
And the earth shall cast out the dead.
Take Refuge from the Coming Judgment
20 Come, my people, enter your chambers,
And shut your doors behind you;
Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment,
Until the indignation is past.
21 For behold, the Lord comes out of His place
To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity;
The earth will also disclose her blood,
And will no more cover her slain.“
The Lord tells His people, the church, to enter their chambers and shut the doors behind them, to hide themselves for a little moment, until the indignation is past. This is similar to a Jewish wedding, when the bride goes into a chamber prior to it. But just before that He says that the dead shall rise, He is speaking about the dead that belong to the church! This all happens before the Tribulation period! Also note the previous verses speaking about a woman giving birth and having birth pains, where have we heard that before? Matthew 24! First the birth pains, then the rapture, then the Tribulation period where God pours out His wrath upon a wicked and unbelieving world!
Do not fear what is coming upon the world my friends, we have been told beforehand what would happen so that when it does happen we will have more faith that God is who He says that He is, so that we would know that our time is near, that the rapture of the church is at hand, even at the door!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
