Perilous Times Call For Faith in God!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

The times in which we live are very dark and perilous, evil spirits roam the land seeking whomever they may devour, like a roaring lion!  Do you believe that this is far-fetched, that it’s just way over the top?  That’s not what God tells us.

2 Timothy 3:1-7

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

The world is being molded and shaped by evil spirits, spirits that are real, spirits that mean to do us all harm!

1 Timothy 4:1

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons

Evil spirits know that they have unbelievers in the palm of their hands, therefore they attack believers in Jesus Christ.  That’s right, they are fighting not against those who already follow them but those that are in rebellion to them, the saints of God Almighty!

2 Timothy 3:12-13

Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Christians will suffer persecution in this world just as Christ did, if we walk with God then we will be persecuted for it.  Those who walk in darkness will become even darker, they will grow worse and worse, they will continue to deceive and they will continue to be deceived just as they are now!

Those who practice lawlessness, those in rebellion to God have been given over to a debased mind.  If we wonder why the world is the way that it is right now we merely need to refer to Romans 1:28-32.

Romans 1:28-32

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

This is the way of the world, this is the way of Satan.  Satan deceives and lies, he is the father of all lies.

John 8:44

There is nothing truthful about him. He speaks on his own, and everything he says is a lie. Not only is he a liar himself, but he is also the father of all lies.

Satan is real, evil spirits are real my friends, don’t let anyone tell you they are not!  Some people, even some if not many Christians don’t really believe that Satan and demons are real, but the bible tells us otherwise!

Revelation 12:12

Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.

The devil, Satan is real, and he knows that his time here is short, so he is stepping up his game, and the spiritual battle is raging!  The closer we get to the Tribulation period the more intense this battle will become.  As a Christian have you noticed anymore spiritual attacks against you in the past few years?  I sure have!  It’s not by chance my friends, no, it’s demonic spirits attacking the children of God!

Satan is the ruler of this world, and as such he leads the lost down many paths, many paths which lead to destruction!  He tells them lies, he twists the truth, and he covers his own revelation.  Satan wants us to believe that he is not real, that demons are merely a figment of our imagination, that they are made up merely as an example of morality and immorality.  But the truth of the matter is that Satan and demons are real, they have a plan, and this plan is all in rebellion to God Almighty.

We can believe lies or we can believe the truth!  And if we believe the truth then the truth will set us free.

John 8:31-32

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Jesus Christ is the truth, and if we believe and trust in Him as our Lord and Savior then we shall be set free, free from sin, free from death, free from the chains that bind us, free from the grips of Satan and demonic spirits!

These times are perilous my friends, very, very dark and getting darker by the day!  The only way to make it through is with and by our faith in God.  Faith is so very important these days, without it we can do nothing, but with it we are pleasing to God and nothing can stand in our way, not even mountains!

We are to persevere to the end, to keep the faith, to trust in God.  Ours is a battle against the enemy, a race to be won, a faith to be used in and for God’s will.  Do not be shaken, do not be led astray by lies, untruths and doctrines of demons, but rather be filled with the Holy Spirit, follow His lead, and know that God is with you always, even to the end of the age!

Our faith is what sees us through dark times, our faith is what please God, and our faith can move mountains!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. Dear Gordon
I am praying for you, there are so many isolated believers in these days because many of the churches are falling away Biblical truth. So many Christians are under attack and just hanging on, looking up for the coming of the Lord, Not many are full of enthusiasm and so many are feeling discouraged. Keep on sounding the trumpet Gordon your work is valuable and may even be more so after the Rapture for a shot window of Opportunity.

    God bless you Gordon

    I am your sister

    • Thanks for your comment Christine!

I truly appreciate your prayers sister, and I most definitely need them! I feel isolated myself, living in this world surrounded by unbelievers, and I have no local church that I call home, this is a bit discouraging. I pray that the good Lord uses us for His will, that we will be a blessing to those in need, that many will turn to the Lord and receive His free gift of salvation.

      God bless! Maranatha!

  2. Dear Gordon
How are you? I haven’t received anything from your blog for a short time and was wondering if all was ok with you?
Much love to you in Jesus name

    • Thanks Christine!

I am fine sister! I am sorry for not posting recently, I have been very, very busy. I suppose it is a blessing, but it has also drawn me away for a while. The Lord is so good and His grace never ceases. I have been working on a prn basis for the past several months, and actually I have been working much more than I did when I was working full-time, much more than I actually want to. As such I have been very tired lately. But, I hope to slow down and not be working so much in the near future. It’s not always easy trying to balance things out, and I can see that if things take me away from working for the Lord then it’s not a good thing. And I also know that it is up to me to make time to do the things that God wills.

I hope and pray that you and yours are well sister, you are in my prayers!

      God bless! Maranatha!

    • Thanks Christine!

I am fine, the good Lord is my shelter and my strength. I always appreciate prayers my friend, they are always welcome, and it is heartening to know that there are believers out there concerned enough to be praying for me! God is good!

      God bless! Maranatha!
