Under Heavy Spiritual Attack! But God is with me!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

I have recently been under heavy spiritual attack.  Satan and his demonic forces are out to get believers in Jesus Christ.  And while he knows that he cannot steal our soul he will do everything in his power to distance us from God, everything he can to make our lives miserable!  Take a look at Job, he was a man after God’s own heart, yet Satan severely attacked him, it wasn’t because he thought that he could take Job’s soul to hell, but so that Job would curse God!

Satan hates it when anyone worships God, because he wants the worship for himself.  This is spiritual darkness, when evil spirits seek to divide, destroy, and conquer.  These forces are mean, forceful, and nasty!  They have no regards for good, no regards for the righteous, and by no means any regards for God or the things of God.

These attacks are real, and they can be very heavy upon our spirit and our soul.  They can take us into the darkness, into places that we would rather not go.  But God is with us, we must know that we have the living God of the universe within us, He is a part of us and we are a part of Him.

It’s not what we can do to overcome this darkness, but what God can do!  It is by the power of the living God, Jesus Christ, that we are able to overcome.  By the same token, it is not what God can do for us but what can we do for God.  It’s not our works which save us, nor is it our works which overcome the darkness, but it is our works done with the right intentions that are done for the Lord, it is what we do for God that counts, it is performing His will on earth, this is how we overcome, this is God’s will for us.

I speak a lot about the darkness, about the evil spirits surrounding us, surrounding me, that’s because I sense it so strongly.  However, I also sense God and His presence.  God is good, He is a good God, and He lets me know it!  And although I walk through dark valleys, and although I may suffer from spiritual attacks, I know that God is with me every step of the way!  Not only is He with me but He protects me, He guides me, whether I choose to follow Him or not is of my own doing.  He also provides for me, He answers my prayers, and He loves me no matter what!

God has His hands and his fingerprints all over my life.  He deserves glory, honor, thanks, and praise.  When I see darkness surrounding me I do not fear because God is with me, and I know that He is greater, He has overcome, and He is for me, He is a part of me and I of Him, we are one in spirit.  I know it, God knows it, but guess what?  So does Satan and his demons!  And these evil spirits will act on us not knowing these things about our relationship with God, they will lie to us, telling us that we have messed up so bad that God does not love us, that our relationship with God is doomed, that we will surely not make it into heaven.  They will place fear and doubts into our minds attempting to diminish our faith, to separate us from God.  However, if we know who we are in Christ, if we know our position with God, then we have nothing to fear but fear itself!

Living in a world of darkness is not easy for a believer in Jesus Christ, even if we know our position with God.  We are in fact still humans living in mortal bodies, it can and will affect us in one way or another, and if you say that it doesn’t then I don’t believe you.  In fact, if you are born-again then it should bother you a lot!  You should become more and more sensitive to the things around you, you should become more and more discerning of the spirits and the spiritual world.  If the darkness doesn’t bother you and you are not becoming more discerning then I would question your faith, I would question whether or not you are right with God.

And this is where I am in the world today, very sensitive to the spiritual things, and it does bother me a lot!  I am not worried about it, but it still bothers me, my soul, and my spirit.  But, like I said earlier, God is good, He is a good God, He loves us dearly and it shows.  God is and has done miraculous things in my life, He continues to pour out His blessings upon me even though I don’t deserve it.

Have you ever had things in life just seem to fit together like a puzzle?  They seem to happen in concert with each other, as if they were meant to be, not bad things but good things.  This has happened to me recently and I believe that they didn’t just happen by chance but by the grace of God!  God is telling me that He is still in control, that He has everything under His power, and that He loves and cares for me.  And this is what we all need to understand is that even though we are surrounded by darkness God is still in control, He is our God, He loves us dearly, He is our protector, our provider, our friend, and our comforter.

These are perilous times that we are living in, but God is performing miracles each and everyday!  God hasn’t left us, He is still here, in fact He is everywhere at all times.  We may not feel His presence but that does not mean that He isn’t with us.  We should not be waiting for a “feeling” of for an “experience” with God, not that we won’t have them, but we don’t necessarily have feelings or experiences if we are saved, we do not have to have these in order to be saved.  Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, and our faith is counted as righteousness in the eyes of God.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the darkness around you know that you are not alone!  This darkness is real but so is God.  And if you are born-again then God is not only with you but is a part of you!  He is Almighty and All-powerful, He is love and loves you dearly no matter what you have done or haven’t done.  Do not fear the darkness but seek the Lord, give Him thanks, glory, honor and praise each and everyday!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

I appreciate your kind words my friend, they are a blessing! God is good and all goodness is from God. And even in our weakness (especially in our weakness), even when we are down in deep dark holes, God is with us, never to leave or forsake us. Amen.

      God bless! Maranatha!

  2. God bless you dear Gordon and keep you safe under the shadow of His wing.
You are so right Gordon, God has not left you nor will He…. ever! We have His promise,
He will not leave us nor forsake us! Even when we mess up! The Holy Spirit will convict us and bring us to repentance for our own good because it is our own guilt and shame that gives us the feeling of separation.
It is easy to get bogged down under the dark cloud of oppression that Satan would have us constrained under, it is hard at those times of attack and oppression to remember we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus and put on our armour and stand in His promises. I know myself how hard that can be when I feel so feeble minded but God hears my feeble prayers and when I say get behind me Satan and may The Lord rebuke you even in my feeble weak state without any sense of His power in me, it is then I realise God was waiting for me to take my stand and use the weapons He has given to me and I get the breakthrough and the cloud lifts along with the despondency. Satan is a bully that kicks a man when he is down, the last thing he wants is for us to know is that we can always call on our big strong Dad, our Abba, to fight for us!
I think, that is because he knows that if we really have the assurance that our Father is for us and not against us then he is going to get whipped every-time!

Gordon you are so very precious and loved by God, may His perfect peace be with you now.

I am your Sister in Christ

I truly appreciate your kind words of encouragement! I believe that so many Christians miss the boat, that they don’t really know what it means to put on the whole armor of God, it seems to confuse them, when it should encourage them. What God is telling us is to be walking with Him! To turn away from sin and unrighteousness, to be holy and righteous and He is holy and righteous. This is putting on the whole armor of God. It is knowing that God is with us, that we are born-again, that He will never leave us nor forsake us, that He is with us through the good times and the bad times, in the light and in the darkness. And when we find ourselves in very dark places then we must remember these things, we must write God’s words upon our heart and remember them in times of trouble, we must always seek God in all things!

God bless Sister! Maranatha! One day soon we shall be together with the Lord, no more pain, no more tears, no more sorrow or suffering. Amen.

  3. I often feel like a sheep who is counted among the transgressors, just like Christ Jesus who died a very horrible death on the humiliating Cross with criminals of all type. Satan is the accuser and liar who wants us to feel the pain of taking up our Cross and following Christ Jesus. BUT, our sin is nailed to the Cross and we will never be a tool in the arsenal of the anti-Christ. We will rise again and live eternally in the New Jerusalem.

    • Thanks for your comment Spiritual Fruit Without Religion!

I like that, “spiritual fruit without religion”, most people don’t understand it, they believe that if you are a Christian then you are religious. If people in the world ask me if I am religious then I tell them no, I’m not. I am not a religious person, I am a saved person, I have a personal relationship with God, two very different things. The Pharisees were religious and we see where it got them!

God is good, and if Christ suffered before us then we shall suffer after Him, we are not better than He is. I can hardly wait for our heavenly reunion!

      God bless! Maranatha!
