The Sign of Deception is here and growing strong!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

I don’t know how many times that I have written about deception, about being deceived, about being led astray.  I don’t do it because I think that it is fun to write about nor do I do it because I think that people will want to read it, I do it because it is a very important sign of the end times, and many will be deceived!  I do it to warn people, especially believers in Jesus Christ, so that they may not be deceived.

Scripture tells us that in the end times, the times just prior to the return of Christ on earth, deception will be high!  Jesus Christ warns us of great deceptions, of false teachers and false prophets, and if He made such a big deal about it then so should we!

2 Peter 2:1-3

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

We must be very careful about what we hear, for false prophets will deceive us with deceptive words.  They are clever in their speech, can and do easily twist the truth, and can make a person believe lies as the truth!

Matthew 24:4-5

And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.

Matthew 24:11

Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.

These end times that we are now living in are filled with deceptions, deceptions of all kinds.  The world is immersed with lies, with the twisting of the truth, with false doctrines.  There are even people who claim to know Jesus yet teach destructive heresies!

There are people who will teach another gospel from what Jesus taught, they will come preaching another Jesus from what is taught in scripture, they are of a different spirit!  Scripture tells us that the simplicity of the gospel will be corrupted by some who seek to twist the truth, and that even believers may believe it.

2 Corinthians 11:3-4

But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!

The apostle Paul warns us that false prophets and deceitful workers will attempt to lead us astray, that Satan and his demons will transform themselves into angels of light!  It’s not a great thing for them to do this, they can do it very easily.  And those who follow Satan will do the same things that Satan does, appearing as righteous and holy, yet teaching the doctrines of demons!

2 Corinthians 11:12-15

But what I do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast. 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

The worst deceptions will not happen from the world itself, but from within the church!  False prophets and false teachers will come as ministers of righteousness, they will come as wolves dressed in sheep’s clothing.  They will appear as holy, yet inside they are seething with evil!

We cannot judge a person by their outwards appearance, but by their heart!  God does not judge us by what we look like, but what is in our heart.  God knows the heart and the mind, we cannot fool God, but we ourselves can be fooled if we allow ourselves to be!  We can be deceived and led astray, led to believe things about Jesus and Christianity that are not true.

Once we believe false doctrines, once we are deceived, then we believe that what we believe is the truth.  We do not know that we are deceived, we believe that we are right!  This is how dangerous deceptions are, we are led to believe lies and they become our truth, when in reality they are wicked and evil lies.  This is Satan’s plan, he knows how to deceive us, he knows our strengths and our weaknesses and he uses them to his advantage.  These deceptions are not only dangerous to unbelievers but to believers as well!  We must know the truth and the truth shall set us free!

There are many different variations of Christianity in the world, and if they do not fully conform to scripture then they are lies and deceptions.  This is how cults start, this is their lure, this is how they control masses of people.  They don’t do it for Christ, they do it for their own power and control.  Satan uses these people to deceive people from the truth of the  gospel, to lead them away from God, while at the same time making them believe that they are actually worshiping God when they are not!

Once we have been deceived then it is very difficult to come back to the truth.  What started out to be the simplicity of the gospel has now become not so simple!  And when the world interjects worldly wisdom and philosophies into the mix, then it becomes even more entangled with deceit.

Another great deception in the world today is political correctness.  Political correctness is an enemy to the cross, it leads us to believe lies, it enforces worldly views which go against the absolute morals and values of God’s laws.  It says that we should not offend anyone with the truth if it hurts someone’s feelings, that everything is good, that there is no right or wrong, it is only in the mind of the believer!  Political correctness says that we must be tolerant and accepting of all things, of all beliefs, and if we reject these things then we ourselves are intolerant haters!  This is how the world is, this is a great deception among the masses of people living on earth.  This is why so many people reject the gospel, this is why so many people reject Jesus Christ!

The world says that everyone will get to heaven, some way, some how, some time.  It says that everyone is good at heart, that all of our views and opinions are the truth, that all ways are righteous.  The world tells us that there is no good or evil, no heaven or hell.  It says that whatever you believe is the truth, that reality is what you make it, that heaven is what you make it.  God tells us different!  He says that there are most definitely absolute morals and values, that there are laws we should abide by, that heaven and hell most definitely exist, and that there is only one way to heaven, by repenting of ones sins and accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior!  This is God’s way, this is what God says and thinks, not what man says and thinks.

Do we believe God or do we believe man?  Do we allow ourselves to be deceived by man, by the doctrines of demons or do we study, learn, and believe what God tells us, all of what God tells us is the truth?!

All of scripture is the infallible word of God, it is God breathed!  None of it is in contradiction to itself, none of it is in error for God cannot lie.   And if we see portions of scripture which seem to contradict one another then it is not scripture itself which is in conflict but our interpretation of scripture!  We are not rightly dividing the word of God.  We must be Bereans in our walk with God, we must search out the scriptures in order not to be deceived.  Don’t just take someones word for it, search it out in scripture and make sure it lines up with what God says is the truth!

So many believers will listen to a preacher, a prophet, a teacher, and take their word as God’s word without comparing it to scripture, this is a dangerous thing to do!  It can lead us astray, it can lead us to believe things about God which are not true.  It’s not always easy, it’s not always quick, but if you read, study, and learn God’s word then it will all become clear, you will gain understanding and wisdom, and the good Lord will give you insight.  It happens over time, and the more we immerse ourselves in His word the more insight we will gain, the deeper insights we will gain, and the more His word and His ways will make sense to us.  The depths of understanding His word are eternal, they never end, just as He never ends.  We can read and study the same passages in scripture over and over again and continue to learn new things, new depths with more meaning.  And as we grow in our faith and understanding of God, of who He is, then our relationship with Him will also continue to grow.

It’s not about what the world says is the truth, it’s all about what God says!  It’s not about pleasing man but about pleasing God.  And when we are pleasing to God then great things can and will happen in our lives.

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. Did you get my link email about Agenda 2030 to depopulation 50%? Happy Father Day brother.

  2. Thank you Gordon because we do need these warnings and to be vigilant in these times, there is just so much deception and so often these false ideologies sound very compassionate and so accepting and loving . We must not forget that Satan comes as an angel of light. This is why so many who are not grounded in God’s Word and have fallen for the Social Justice Gospel and the all roads lead to God acceptance.
As the ecumenical movement gathers momentum, we must be strong and continue to contend for the faith, no matter what others might do or say and let us resist the pressure to participate in any religious activity or event that will deliberately suppress or compromise biblical truth for the sake of unity. We must return to the infallible, inerrant and inspired Word of God to heed its warnings and obey its commands.
The Bible exhorts us to test all teachers and spirits (1 John 4:1,6). We are to expose false teachings and the evil deeds of darkness (Eph. 5:11). Christians are to lovingly confront and rebuke false teachers (Titus 1:9, 13). We are to separate from those who persist in teaching error (Romans 16:17; Titus 3:10).
There are many other Gospels being preached and the true one is being rejected so we must stand firm and remember (Galatians 1:8).
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed”

    God bless brother!

  3. Thanks for your comment Christine!

The deception is very strong these days, it makes a believer wonder just how much longer before the rapture of the church. The signs are all around us just like Jesus said they would be!

    God bless sister! Maranatha!
