The Light Shines Brighter in the Darkness!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

Genesis 1:3-4

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.

God made light to shine upon the earth, He divided the light from the darkness, He made evening and morning, but there is much more meaning to this verse than physical light, but the light of God Almighty!

John 8:12

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

The light of Jesus Christ shines in the world, the light of God is truth, it is holiness, purity, and righteousness.  The light of the world is the gospel of Jesus Christ, it represents who God is and what God is, love, perfection, completeness.

Let there be light!  As children of God we are the light, we are to shine in the darkness, to expose the evil, to share the love of God!  We are one with Christ and Christ is one with us, and as such we are also light, we have the light in us, and we are to live for the light.

When the world gets darker than the light becomes brighter, when evil abounds then what is good becomes more pronounced, much more noticeable.  When the world around us becomes more and more wicked and evil then the righteousness of Christ within us becomes much more evident and apparent!

If we live as Christ lived, if we obey God, if we walk with God down the path of righteousness then our lives will shine brightly in an ever darker world.  And as time goes on the world will become even darker, therefore the light of God will shine that much brighter!

The world will see the light as evil, it will disregard the light and remain in darkness.  The world hates the light and prefers to be in the darkness, of the night.  But we my friends are not of the night, we are of the day, the light of the world!

Oil and water does not mix, they remain divided, so does the day and the night, light and darkness.  God has separated the day from the night, light from darkness, good from evil.  This separation is becoming more and more apparent with each passing day.  And as time goes on this separation will become even more apparent, as the world becomes darker the light will shine brighter!

Just as the day and the night are divided God will separate the chaff from the wheat, the evil from the good, and I believe that we see this happening even now!

Matthew 3:12

His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Division in the world is becoming much more apparent with each day, our time is short.  Let there be light in the world, let the light shine in your life, live for the day not the night!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. Thank you Gordon for this encouragement! I am feeling so weary today, and this helped me as I too know what it is to be hated and cast aside by friends and to some extent family too. The chasm just grows wider by the day the separation of light from darkness.

God bless you brother you are a beacon of light!

I feel the same way sister, I feel the darkness moving in and almost enveloping me, and it is exhausting. What we must remember is that the good Lord is always with us, He is for us, and He will support us in His will. He shall give us the strength and courage we need, the endurance to finish the race.

      God bless! Maranatha!
