Commentary By: Gordon King
There is a heaviness in the air, an uncomfortable sense of things stirring. These are days in which evil spirits will increase their schemes throughout the world, times that will be marked by the absence of godliness in society, by the hearts of men growing cold!
We must not allow ourselves as believers in Jesus Christ to be overcome by the forces of darkness, but be overwhelmed by the filling of the Holy Spirit!
I hear of believers praying for revival in America, and I do as well, however, let us pray for revival within ourselves first. Let us rid ourselves of the sin in our lives, to become more Christ-like, to imitate our Lord and Savior! There should continually be less of us and more of Him shining through each and every one of us.
As the world grows ever darker we must shine brighter as the darkness will not overcome the light but be overpowered by it! Darkness cannot remain in the light, nor light in the darkness, for the light will expose what is in the darkness, and the brighter the light the more of the evil will be exposed.
And as we shine the light of Christ into a dark world evil will be exposed to the world. Those of the world will not like what they see and they will do what they can to extinguish the light! They will attempt to overpower the light by bringing in more darkness.
Those in rebellion to God do not want to see that they are in rebellion to God! They do not want to see their evil deeds, they do not want to hear about them, they wish to be ignorant of them. This is why we see so many people in rebellion to Christianity, to the church, and to those speaking out against evil in the world.
As time goes on we will see an increase in evil and wickedness which is used as a weapon against what is righteous and holy. We will see it because evil spirits are behind it, because there is a battle raging, a war between the darkness and the light! And in order for darkness to stand it must be intensified as the light shines brighter, and the light will shine brighter the closer we get to the return of Jesus Christ to earth!
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.“
There will be a time however when most of the light is removed from the world, after the rapture of the church. During this time, the Tribulation period, the world will be a very dark place. Darkness will rule the day and the light that remains will be overrun with darkness until Christ returns in judgment!
This sense of increased evil and wickedness is something which is real my friends, it is the discernment of evil spirits in the world, of the intensifying of wickedness throughout the land! Perhaps you have sensed the same thing? An uneasy feeling that things are just not right, that something is amiss, that something is about to give, a feeling which is more intense now then ever before.
What we see happening in the world around us today is not by chance, it is not by coincidence, it was prophesied to happen. The increased intensity of evil in the world is a sign for us, a sign that the soon return of Jesus Christ is at hand, even at the door!
Let us pray that the good Lord brings us closer to Himself, that He fills us with His Holy Spirit, that He finds us in obedience to Him when He comes to take us home! If the world is in such increasing turmoil then just how much longer could it be before the rapture of the church?!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
