Commentary By: Gordon King
The year 2017 brought with it many natural disasters, in fact many disasters of biblical proportions, many which have been deemed as historical!
If 2017 was such an intense year for disasters, what will the year 2018 bring with it?!
I have been observing the earthquake data for the past two days and have noticed that earthquake activity along the ring of fire and both North and South America have intensified. I have also noticed that volcanic activity around the world is heating up! The following are news reports in January 2018:
Six Volcanoes Across the World Are Threatening Dangerous Eruptions in 2018 And Scientists Are Worried
Earthquakes and volcanic activity are interrelated, and when activity of either increases the other is bound to follow.
My point here is that if we are nearing the end of the end times, and I believe that we are, then wouldn’t it make sense that natural disasters will also increase, as a woman giving labor? And if this is true, and I also believe that it is, then just how bad will things get in the year 2018?!
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure these things out or to see them happening. And if we read and study the bible then we know that these are end time signs, signs just before the return of Jesus Christ to earth!
The bible tells us that natural disasters will be a sign of the times, it also tells us that the degradation of society at large will also intensify, as will the hearts of men, women, and children.
2 Timothy 3:1-7
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.“
Isn’t this how we see the world turning? Are people not becoming more and more like this each and everyday?!
We are also warned to beware of false prophets and false teachers, bringing destructive heresies with them.
2 Peter 2:1-3
“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.“
Jesus Himself warned us of these things, of deception and of being deceived.
“And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many“
Jesus also warned of lawlessness abounding and of people’s hearts turning cold.
“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.“
I don’t know about you but I see this happening now, lawlessness is rampant, people are turning from what is right, turning from the law, performing ungodly deeds. The love of many has grown cold, and hatred has taken a front seat in the world. Not only will these things happen but also wars and rumors of wars, as well as famine and pestilence, the beginning of sorrows.
These things are all signs of the times, yet they will continue to get even worse until the second coming of Christ!
If we are closer than ever before to the beginning of the Tribulation period, and no one could argue that we are not, then these signs shall intensify! And if the year 2017 brought with it increased natural disasters, increased persecutions, and increased wickedness overall, then just what will the year 2018 bring with it?!
It’s not that we should focus on bad things happening in this world, however, we are to be aware of them as signs of the times! Our focus should always be on Jesus Christ first and foremost.
Do not be deceived by what you see happening in the world today, do not be deceived by what is soon coming upon the world, but know that the return of Jesus Christ to earth is even closer today than it was yesterday! Know that if you are a born again believer in Jesus Christ then your redemption draws near, it is even at the door!
And do not fear if persecutions of Christians intensify, but place your faith and trust in God and know that He is with you always. Ours is not to fear but to have a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. And with that we must know that it is He who is in us who is greater than he who is in the world!
As Christians we have already won the war, yet we have many battles to face. We are already victorious in Christ, we have already obtained salvation and eternal life, we are one with Christ and Christ is one with us, we are of the same Spirit, of one body, and eternally secure in our Father in heaven! Amen.
We can look at all of the disasters, evil and wickedness in the world and interpret it as being a horrible and horrific time in the history of mankind, or we can look at it as being one step further towards our final redemption in Jesus Christ! We already know that all of these things will happen, and when they do we need to look up, for our redemption is near! The beginning of the Tribulation period is near, but so is the rapture of the church!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
