Commentary By: Gordon King
“Moreover the Lord spoke again to Ahaz, saying, 11 “Ask a sign for yourself from the Lord your God; ask it either in the depth or in the height above.”
12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, nor will I test the Lord!”
13 Then he said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.“
‘Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” ‘
Our Savior Jesus Christ, Immanuel, God with us!
If we are saved, born-again believers in Jesus Christ then we have God with us, not only with us but within us. Each and every believer in Jesus Christ is indwelt with the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ!
The greatest gift to humanity, Jesus Christ, the only one who is able to save, the only one who gives us eternal life!
God Almighty, born into this world as a man, but not only a man, both man and God. Perfect in all of His ways, righteous and holy, without sin! Born of a virgin, destined to die on a cross, risen from the dead, sitting at the right hand of our Father in heaven!
Immanuel, Messiah, The Word, I AM, Faithful and True, The Bread of Life, Great High Priest, The Light of the World, Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Son of the Most High, The Door, The Way, The Life, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ!
Jesus Christ, our God with many names, He is life, truth, righteousness, peace, He is the way, the door, and our High Priest. He is our Savior and our Lord. He is the only way to heaven.
On this Christmas season let us know the reason for celebration, let us all be aware of just who and what we are celebrating. It has been given to us a Savior, the propitiation for our sins, a way to reconcile us back to God, back to the One who created us in the first place! It is God giving of Himself to save us from the penalty of our sins, from eternity in Hell! The birth of our salvation, of our hope, of our Lord and Savior!
It’s not merely enough to believe that Jesus Christ is God, one must also believe that He is God, that He died on the cross for our sins, that He rose from the dead, and that He ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father. One must repent of their sins, have a change of heart regarding their sins, and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! This is the only way.
‘For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” 6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” ‘
Whomever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved, as long as you believe, repent, and call upon the name of the Lord.
“Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.“
It isn’t merely enough to just believe, for even Satan and his demons believe. Jesus Christ Himself taught to repent and believe in the gospel.
If you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then I urge you to do it now before it’s too late! We all have been allotted a time here on earth, and that time is short. Do not neglect so great a salvation, know who you are and where you are going after you die!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
