Our Everlasting Covenant with God! Honor God!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

I have had a message from the Lord: “Seek not the wisdom of man but be obedient to Me.  For My ways are not your ways, and My thoughts are not your thoughts.  While things in this world don’t always make sense to you, hold fast to My words, humble yourself before Me, honor Me with your works, this is My will for you.  Do what I say and you will be blessed.

Some of what I write about is controversial, and many may not agree with me, yet I shall do it for the honor and glory of the Lord.  This is what the good Lord is telling me is the truth, believe it or not!

The good Lord has made with us an everlasting covenant, a covenant which can never be broken, a covenant which is unconditional and everlasting.  So just what is that covenant you may be asking yourself?  It is a covenant which God has offered to all people, it is a free gift of eternal life.  Believe in My Son Jesus Christ, repent of your sins and accept Him as your Lord and Savior and you shall have eternal life!  This is the covenant God has made with all who are born-again, all who can call themselves children of the Most High God of the universe!

We have been sealed with the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of our inheritance, a guarantee of our everlasting salvation!  Ours is better than gold, more valuable than anything found on earth, and it shall last for eternity!  And nothing shall ever separate us from the love of God, nothing!  Nothing or no one shall ever snatch us out of His mighty hands, nothing!  He shall not lose one who came to Him, not one!

This is the covenant that God has made with those who have accepted His Son Jesus Christ, these are the ones who call out Abba, Father, God!

By the very same token, God has made an everlasting covenant with the Jews, His chosen people!  He made this covenant unconditional, not depending upon what they do or don’t do, it all rests upon God’s shoulders.  God made the covenant between Him and Abram.

Genesis 17:1-8

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”

God made an everlasting covenant with Abraham and his descendants, to be their God, to bless them, and to give them the land of Israel as an everlasting possession!  This includes the city of Jerusalem, the city where God wrote His name!

If this is not the truth or if God will not keep His promises to the Jews, then what makes us think as believers and followers of Jesus Christ that He will honor His covenant with us?  Why would we then believe that we are saved and always will be?  Why would we believe that we will go to heaven, or that we have inherited the promises of God?!

The point is that we must believe that what God did between Himself and the Jews is the truth and that God will always uphold His covenant with them, or we might as well not believe any of it at all!  God is truth and light, He is love, and there is no evil or lies in Him, for God cannot lie!

I believe that God will do what He said to Abraham, and I also believe that He will do what He told us that He would do for us!

The city of Jerusalem is God’s chosen city, the city where Jesus Christ Himself will rule the earth!  A holy city, a city given unto the Jews as an everlasting possession.

We must as believers in Jesus Christ honor God, that means that we must do some things in this world which go against the wisdom of the world, we must do some things which seem out of the ordinary, some things which seem to go against what our own wisdom tells us is the right thing to do or not do.

We must as a people of God recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, for by doing so we are not giving honor to the Jews but to God Himself!  We are telling God that we trust in Him, that we trust in His covenants, that we trust in His words to us.  By recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel we are giving God the glory that He deserves, we are blessing God for who He is and for what He has done and is now doing!

It’s not enough to say that we trust God if we don’t back it up with actions!  It’s not enough to say we follow Christ if we don’t also trust Him.  The Jews are God’s chosen people, and we need to honor that, but Jerusalem is also God’s chosen city, and we need to also honor that.

The world is full of evil, brought on by evil spirits in the world.  And when a believer becomes closer to God then he or she will suffer some attacks from these evil spirits, believe me I know, it has happened to me numerous times!  When we do God’s will then evil spirits become outraged, they will seek to stop us, and they will seek to destroy our relationship with God, by whatever means, by whatever actions they must take!

God tells us in Genesis 12:3

Now the Lord had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

God was the one who said this not me, it was the Lord who said to bless Israel not I, I am just a messenger of the Lord, believe it or not!

God says that He will bless those who bless you and I will curse him who curses you, and in you all of the families of the earth shall be blessed!

Do you really believe for one minute that God meant that this was merely Abraham He was talking about?  No!  It was Abraham and his descendants, the Jews and the nation of Israel!  They are His chosen people, Israel His chosen nation, and Jerusalem His chosen city!

Deuteronomy 12:5

“But you shall seek the LORD at the place which the LORD your God will choose from all your tribes, to establish His name there for His dwelling, and there you shall come.

2 chronicles 33:7

“He even set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever

Jesus Christ will rule the earth from the city of Jerusalem!

Isaiah 24:23

Then the moon will be disgraced
And the sun ashamed;
For the Lord of hosts will reign
On Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
And before His elders, gloriously.

Matthew 25:31-32

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.

Where else on earth would God rule from but the city of Jerusalem?  The city where He put His name, the city where He dwells.  The throne of God has always been in the city of Jerusalem, no other place on earth!

We can choose to listen to God and obey Him, to honor Him, or we can choose not to.  We can honor God by standing for what is right in the face of adversity, and if it is the right thing to do then God will see us through, then we will be blessed.

Or we can choose to cower down in the face of adversity, in the face of worldly wisdom and do nothing, which in fact places us on the side of evil in the world.  And if we side with evil in the world then how will we be blessed by God?!

It isn’t enough to just say that we are Christians if we choose to do nothing at all.  It isn’t pleasing to God if we do not honor Him, His city, His nation, His people!  We should stand beside the Jews in support, with loyalty, not necessarily for them but for God, because God tells us that it’s the holy and righteous thing to do!

And I have been told in no uncertain terms that I am wrong in this, well then so be it, I would rather side with what God tells me is the right thing to do then man!  I have also been told that if Christians want so bad to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem now then why didn’t they push to do it 50 years ago, or even 20 years ago?  Good question.  And the only true answer to that question is that it wasn’t the right time!  It has been 70 years since the birth of the nation of Israel, a prophetic time, and a prophetic number of years in the eyes of God!  Now is the time, it is a prophetic time to support Israel, to support the Jews, and to support God in this historic move, to announce that Jerusalem is in fact the capital of Israel!  God’s nation, God’s holy city, the place where He put His name, the city where He dwells!  The Holy Spirit is moving within the people of God, moving them to do the right thing, to do what is righteous and holy despite what the world thinks!

Should we fear the Muslims, fear what they might think, what they might do?  We all should know that Islam is not a religion of peace, that it is a false religion, a religion led by demonic powers and spirits.  Please tell me just where in the Quran does it mention the name of Jerusalem, just one time?!  No you cannot, because it doesn’t!  If it were such a holy city to the Muslims then why is it not mentioned even one time in the Quran?  Yet we find it written in the bible over 800 times!  800!  So, do we do what the Muslims want us to do, a religion based on murder, hatred, and death?  Or do we do what God says is holy and righteous?  Do we stand for righteousness in the face of adversity like Elijah did against 850 false prophets of Baal, or do we give into them?

The bible has proven itself to be a true, accurate, and reliable book of history, facts, and God’s written word.  It is so much more than merely words written on paper, but the living word of God Almighty!  It will never be fully understood, and the mysteries it contains are endless, timeless!

So why should we as believers and followers of Jesus Christ be afraid to stand for God’s city, for God’s nation, and for God’s chosen people?  What and whom do we fear?  Have we not been given a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind?  Are we told not to fear but trust in God?  And if we are truly believers in Jesus Christ then don’t we have faith in God and His promises to us?  Or has our faith dwindled to the point of not trusting God, of not believing His words?  If I am told to back down because of fear then what good is my faith in God?  What is the point of even being a Christian?

As believers in Jesus Christ we have been adopted as sons and daughters of God, we have also been grafted into the Jewish lineage.  We cannot be Christians without the Jewish faith, but we can be Jewish without the Christian faith!  We need Israel more than Israel needs us, and we need the blessings of God more than we need His curses!

The prophecies of the bible are all lining up, all in preparation for the rapture of the church, the Tribulation period, the coming of the Antichrist, the abomination of desolation, and the second coming of Jesus Christ!  Whether or not we like what is coming, whether or not we like what the bible tells us will happen, it will happen, just as God told us it would!  We need to make a stand, either with God or not, either with His chosen people, nation, and city or not!  The choice is ours to make.  Whatever we did or didn’t do 50 or 20 years ago is not the real question here, but what will we do now?!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. I agree, the first covenant made with Abraham was all about Righteousness by faith…in GOD, the Ten Commandments were not yet written. And by faith, Abraham did not offer up his son, but GOD provided a Ram, a male lamb, THE ONLY SACRIFICE…worthy to END..the CURSE OF DEATH, on all who call upon His name….J=is for JESUS 0 = is for ZERO Y=is YOU…Let no one come between JESUS AND YOU!…and that is having FAITH in what JESUS ALREADY DID, when died, of broken heart, and Satan was behind…and is behind…all who try to DESTROY OUR FAITH…in a GOD WHO CARES ENOUGH…to love us, and let HIM…put our sins on the head of the “goat” …the artificial intellgence…he created…who has proven…we CANNOT FIGHT…the power behind SATAN…but we can “cower” in humility, like a child behind our dad….KNOWING….JESUS and GOD and HIS HOLY SPIRIT and THE HOLY ANGELS….come to those who say, “I am saved by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ, and He is my Saviour.”….glorify God, and continue to glorify God, and you HAVE A FRIEND…and FRIENDS LIKE ME, who in all humility…LOVE TO SEE GOD AT WORK….making people in a frenzy…trying to pry us from HANGING ONTO GOD….as we watch HIm…carry us…over these great last days….where the “wheat and tares” live together….and He is sifting the wheat….and chaff…is blowing away…GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU WRITING about what JOY it is to be in HIS PRESENCE….HIS FRIEND…and HIS ANGELS…and even me…Bless You

  2. Gordon, I have carefully read everything you have written in this article. I want you to answer a question for me . If today Russia or Iran were to drop a nuclear bomb onto Jerusalem and completely destroyed it , would you still have your Christian faith?
    I am asking for a yes or no response.

  3. Thanks for your question Ethin!

    Of course if you ask me such a question it deserves more than a yes or no answer brother! It sounds to me like a loaded question. If you only want to hear yes or no than I cannot answer you.

    There are many things in this world which test our faith, many things which place doubt our minds as believers, many things which shake us to the core, and even other believers who discourage us in our faith. At times I have some doubts creep into my mind, however they are quickly overpowered by the Holy Spirit, and if we are all honest with ourselves then this happens to us all.

    Our faith does not come from ourselves but from God, I am saved and I always will be saved, I will always be a child of God Almighty, Jesus Christ will always be my Lord and Savior, so I will always have faith in God. Does this mean that my faith will always remain the same, no, does this mean that I may never have doubts come into my mind, no.

    Do I believe that Jerusalem will ever be annihilated with a nuclear bomb? No. Does scripture tell us that Jerusalem will be completely destroyed? No.

    I believe what scripture tells me is the truth, I believe that God is the one in control of all things, yes even evil in the world, He controls it by allowing it to happen and by not allowing it to happen also. My faith is in God not in the world, and He will allow evil to happen according to His will, to His plan, nothing more, nothing less.

    What if a nuclear bomb destroyed Jerusalem? Would I still have my Christian faith? I would still be a Christian, I would still believe in God, so I would still have my faith. Would my faith be tested, probably, would it be weakened? Maybe, who really knows unless it actually happened?

    If you had a vicious and deadly attack against someone you loved dearly, if everything you had was taken away from you, would you still have faith? How would you know unless it actually happened? Yet, if you are a born-again believer in Jesus Christ then you are still a child of God, you cannot change that, no one or nothing can.

    If God’s word is not true then Christianity is a sham and my faith is useless! Then being a Christian is a lie, then it’s all lies and I should question my beliefs. Yet, I believe in God Almighty, I believe in His promises to us, and I believe that scripture is God’s word, that it is the truth, and that it will happen exactly as written. Like I said, my faith is in God and His promises, in His word, and if we don’t have that then what do we have? And if we do not trust or cannot trust God and take Him at His word then who are we really?

    This reminds me of Charles Templeton who preached along side of Billy Graham. He was an evangelist for Christ, but then one day he became an agnostic because of all the evil in the world. Did he lose faith? Yes. Was he still a child of God? Yes I believe so if he was born-again.

    So if I lose faith what does this question really mean? So what if I lose faith, what difference does it really make to you? Is it a question of my faith, or of my salvation? Is it about the truth or about the world? And why should it matter if you believe me or not? I am not the one to follow but Christ!

    You can question me all you want, but if you really have questions then you should be questioning God not me! But I believe that you are not really asking me a question but making a statement, trying to make a point.

    If you do not want to support the Jews then don’t do it, if you feel in your spirit that supporting the U.S. embassy move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is the wrong thing to do then don’t do it! I on the other hand do feel its the right thing to do, both in my mind and in my spirit, I also see it written in God’s word, I feel it, I sense it, and am being led to support it.

    We can “what if” all day long, we can wonder, we can worry, we can have fear of the unknown, but God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind. We have the Spirit of God living within us, and He overcame the world. We are not to worry about what might happen but to cast all of our fears over to Him. And if I did not believe this then I do not believe in His word.

    There is a time for everything, a time for the beginning and a time for the end. A time for the Jews and a time for the Gentiles. And when the fullness of of time for the Gentiles has come in God will remove the blindness from Israel.

    Romans 11:25-27
    “For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:

    “The Deliverer will come out of Zion,
    And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;
    For this is My covenant with them,
    When I take away their sins.”

    What we see happening in the world is happening according to God’s will, it is all leading up to the end of time for the Gentiles, the time for the Jews, the beginning of the Tribulation period, the time of Jacob’s trouble. It’s not about us, we have been grafted into God’s family as Gentile believers, it’s about God and His chosen people the Jews! And it all centers around Jerusalem, God’s Holy city.

    God protected Israel in the past and He says that He will do it again in scripture, and I believe that He will! This is faith. If Jerusalem were completely destroyed by a nuclear bomb, then would the Mount of Olives still be there when Jesus returns from heaven? Scripture tells us that He will stand on the Mount of Olives.

    Zechariah 14:1-4
    “Behold, the day of the Lord is coming,
    And your spoil will be divided in your midst.
    For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
    The city shall be taken,
    The houses rifled,
    And the women ravished.
    Half of the city shall go into captivity,
    But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

    Then the Lord will go forth
    And fight against those nations,
    As He fights in the day of battle.
    And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
    Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
    And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
    From east to west,
    Making a very large valley;
    Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
    And half of it toward the south.”

    The Lord says that He will bring all nations to battle against Jerusalem, if this is true, and I believe that all of the bible is true, then how could this be if the city were previously annihilated by a nuclear bomb?! He is speaking about the day of the Lord, the time of Jacob’s trouble.

    The very first believers in Jesus Christ were not Gentiles, they were Jews! Christianity did not begin in America or any where else in the world other than Israel and Jerusalem. This is the center of the world in God’s eyes, a holy city, a city where He put His name, so I also believe that He will protect Jerusalem, His holy city.

    It takes faith to become a believer in Jesus Christ, it takes faith to believe in all of God’s words, and it takes faith to believe in the promises of God, no matter what we see in the world, no matter what we hear in the world. Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God.

    Romans 10:17
    “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

    I don’t have all of the answers brother, none of us do, but I do believe in God’s word, I believe what His Spirit tells me is the truth, no matter what the world tells me. God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. What seems irrational to the world makes perfect sense to God.

    God bless Ethin! Maranatha!

  4. My own answer to my question regarding If Jerusalem was destroyed with a nuclear bomb would I still have my Christian faith. Without elaboration or hesitation my answer would be “yes”!
