Commentary By: Gordon King
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks, it was not meant to give thanks to the Indians for their help and generosity to the Pilgrims, although they do deserve thanks, but it was a time set aside to give special thanks to the good Lord for all that He has done and continues to do!
Although we give thanks to the Lord on one special day of the year, we should remember to give thanks to God on a daily basis!
God has blessed us in so many ways, ways in which many of us may not really think about too much.
Everyday that we wake up in the morning is a blessing, taking a breath of air is a blessing, being able to stand and walk are blessings, being able to speak, to eat, to work and play, all blessings from God, all good and God-given!
God not only gives us the ability to do things, He also provides. He provides us with air to breath, with water to drink, with clothes to wear. He blesses us with work, with income, and with whatever we need in order to not only survive but thrive!
He has blessed us with nature, with the beauty of His creation, with the craftsmanship of His mighty hands! He blesses us with the rain and with the rays of the sun, with the stars at night and the light of the moon.
God blesses us with not only things that we need but also with things that we don’t necessarily need but want, He blesses us with the desires of our heart!
But the most important blessing of all is our salvation! God gave Himself as a sacrifice so that we may have eternal life with Him, a blessing beyond measure!
We as believers in Jesus Christ have the greatest gift and blessing of all, eternal life! We have the hope of being glorified, of being transformed into the image of Christ, of being given immortal bodies, and of being with the Lord once we have died here on earth.
God listens to us, He hears our prayers, and He answers our prayers although we may not always like the answer. He speaks to us although we don’t always hear Him. He is always with us and will never forsake us. He shelters us under His mighty wings and give us peace and comfort like no other!
We are blessed beyond measure, we have become children of the Most High God of the universe! When we find ourselves in trouble then we can rest assured that God is with us and will see us through. When the world is against us God is for us! And when we doubt and are unsure, God remains faithful and true, always following through with His promises.
God’s love for us is unconditional, no matter how we feel or how much we love Him back, His love for us is unwavering, it never lingers, it never fails!
Children of God are the most blessed people on the face of the earth! Never before have there been or will there be any other people as blessed as the children of God Almighty!
So let us not forsake our giving thanks to the Lord on a daily basis, for the Lord is so good to us! Each and every day give thanks to God for what He has given to you, for what He does for you, for what you have already received from Him! For the Lord has blessed us beyond measure, much more than what we deserve by His grace and much less than what we really deserve by His mercy!
Thank you LORD God, Father in heaven, for all of your tender mercies and grace, thank You for all that You do, all You have done, and all that You continue to do for us! Thank You for Your gift of eternal life, thank You for being You! We love you Lord, and we pray that You make us love You even more, from the bottom of our hearts! Turn us from our sins and bring us closer to Your bosom, keep us from the evil ones, and make us more like Your Son Jesus Christ! In Jesus precious name I pray, Amen.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
