Commentary By: Gordon King
Jesus Christ gave us warning signs to watch for, signs of the end times, the last days, just before His return for the church, just before the rapture of the church!
He told us that there would be wars and rumors of wars, nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, there will be famines and pestilence, and earthquakes in various places, He also warned us that we should take heed that no one deceives us! He said that people will hate Christians, that they will be killed for His name sake, that many will be offended and hate one another and betray one another, that many false prophets will rise up and deceive many, that lawlessness with abound and the love of many will grow cold!
The apostle Paul also warned us of the last days, that they would be perilous times, when men’s hearts would grow cold, that people would be proud and arrogant, disobedient, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, having a form of godliness but denying its power.
I don’t know about you, but I see all of these things happening right now! In fact they are becoming more frequent and with greater intensity each day.
However, Jesus did tell us one more thing, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come (Matthew 24:14).”
So, the real question is this: “Has the gospel of the kingdom been preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations?”
I believe that it has! The gospel of Jesus Christ is being preached all around the world, through missionaries, ministries, evangelism, churches, television and radio, literature, and the internet and social media. At no other time in history has the gospel been preached so much, so far, and all around the world!
Jesus didn’t tell us that the gospel must be preached to every man, woman and child, but to all the world, and I believe that this has been accomplished. This is not to say that we as the body of Christ should stop spreading the gospel, on the contrary, however there is nothing else that must happen before Jesus Christ comes in the clouds to take us home!
“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
Even the old testament prophet Daniel prophesied about these things, that in the end times knowledge shall increase and many shall run to and fro. These are the times when knowledge has definitely increased and many run to and fro, more so than at any other time in history! Who could argue with that?!
With the advent of air travel, moving around and across the globe has become quite easy, we can travel around the world in a matter of hours, as compared to months not too many years ago. And with the advent of technology we have access to enormous amounts of information at our finger tips, right in our homes or even on the road.
Just to give you an idea of how fast technology has advanced recently, when I was in college just a couple of decades ago, we did not have personal computers to look up information as they do now, we had to go old school and use books. Imagine that, we had to actually carry around and read books! But now students of all ages carry around lap top computers and can access anything they desire, right at their finger tips!
The knowledge of the world has increased exponentially to the point of new discoveries in science, medicine, and technology being discovered almost daily! Technology is advancing at a faster pace than manufacturers can keep up with. When you buy a computer or smart television, it seems as though months later a newer and more advanced model becomes available on the market, and the item you bought seems to already be outdated, a dinosaur!
My point is that there is nothing that needs to happen before the return of Jesus Christ to rapture the church, nothing! It could happen at any moment, even today, even as you are reading this post! That is how imminent the rapture of the church is!
On a side note, there are many believers who think that we are or may be in the Tribulation period already. But we must remember that it will not happen until the Antichrist confirms a covenant with many.
“Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.“
This confirmation of a covenant, which I believe will be concerning the Jews, marks the beginning of the Tribulation period!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
