Psalm 122, Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

I had a dream last night, I don’t really remember any of it except for this one thing, I saw written before me as if on a wall: “Psalm 122”.

Psalm 122

I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
Our feet have been standing
Within your gates, O Jerusalem!

Jerusalem is built
As a city that is compact together,
Where the tribes go up,
The tribes of the Lord,
To the Testimony of Israel,
To give thanks to the name of the Lord.
For thrones are set there for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you.
Peace be within your walls,
Prosperity within your palaces.”
For the sake of my brethren and companions,
I will now say, “Peace be within you.”
Because of the house of the Lord our God
I will seek your good.

I believe that it was a message from the Lord to pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Those that love the house of the Lord our God will prosper.  It is also written that those who curse Israel will be cursed and those that bless Israel will be blessed.

Genesis 12:3

I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

We have been blessed by Israel in many ways, first and foremost by the Messiah, Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world, the seed of David!

Second, we are blessed by many of the innovations, technology, and medical advances being done in and by the nation of Israel.

And third, those who bless Israel will be blessed!  I believe this to be true, and for those believing in and following this promise of God will be blessed!

Jerusalem, the city of God, the city on which He put His name!

Deuteronomy 12:5

“But you shall seek the LORD at the place which the LORD your God will choose from all your tribes, to establish His name there for His dwelling, and there you shall come.”

1 Kings 5:3

“You know that David my father was unable to build a house for the name of the LORD his God because of the wars which surrounded him, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.”

1 Kings 5:5

“Behold, I intend to build a house for the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spoke to David my father, saying, ‘Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, he will build the house for My name.’ “

1 Kings 11:36

‘But to his son I will give one tribe, that My servant David may have a lamp always before Me in Jerusalem, the city where I have chosen for Myself to put My name.

God not only chose the Jews to be His people, He also chose the City of David, Jerusalem to be His city, the city where He put His name!

The city of Jerusalem, the city where God dwells, representative of the New Jerusalem in heaven, the city where God will rule the New heaven and earth forever!

Let us all take the time to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and I will take it one step further and say let us pray for the peace and protection of God’s chosen people the Jews!  Not only should we pray for the Jews because they are God’s chosen people, but we as Christians are God’s chosen people as well!  Each and every one of us has been grafted into the Jewish lineage in Christ Jesus!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!
