Calling All Christians!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

Calling all Christians!  The good LORD God Almighty is calling all Christians to repentance, He is calling us to turn from sin, to follow Him and not the ways of the world!

The Lord is speaking to us, but are we listening?  He is calling us out of the world, because we are not of this world!

He is calling us because our time is short, the world is in spiritual darkness, and there is a spiritual famine in the land among believers.  There is a rift between those who are spiritually sound with God and those who are “Luke Warm”, a division in the body of Christ!

How many believers do you know of who don’t even know what their calling from God is?  How many believers who only really even think about God once a week when they attend church?  How many believers who deny the power of God in their life, who do not seek God in all things, who fail to depend upon our Lord for all of their needs?

The world is in turmoil, the darkness is closing in, and the light of Christ is shining through the darkness!

We are the light of the world, we as the body of Christ are being presented as the hope of the world, leading the way for the lost to come to repentance!

Ours is to show the world that there is a better way, that there is only one way to Heaven, one way to salvation, one way to escape eternal destruction in Hell!

We all have a calling from God, in fact more than one.  Ours is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, but also help those in need, to perform God’s will on earth.  Know your calling and perform it to the best of your ability as God has equipped you to do!

When we are walking with God, when we are walking in the spirit, then we will know God’s will in our life, we will hear from God, we will know His voice, and we will allow Him to lead us through the darkness!

It is not merely enough for us to be saved, but to listen to God and be obedient to Him!  We are one with Christ and Christ is one with us.  We are to put down our life for Him, to pick up our cross and follow Him on a daily basis.  Walking in the spirit, conforming to His will, walking with God!

It saddens me to think about just how many believers live a worldly life, at how many do not have a close relationship with God.  And many times it takes a disaster to bring even believers to the point of despair, to bring us to our knees, to bring us back in a right relationship with God.

With that being said, there is a portion of the body of Christ that is walking closely with God, walking in the spirit, giving Him the praise and worship that He is worthy of, listening to His voice, following His lead!  There is a revival of the Holy Spirit within the body of Christ!

Humble yourself before the Lord, repent of your sins, and seek an anointing of the Holy Spirit!  Be filled with the Holy Spirit and not drunk with wine!  Allow the workings of the Spirit to lead and guide you, to give you wisdom and understanding!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. Thank you Gordon, I do keep short accounts with The Lord, I repent as I go through each day, I am sensitive to The Holy Spirit and get a check just before or after a wrong thought, attitude something I say etc etc .

  2. Thanks for your comment Christine!

The main point that I was making in this post was to awaken the church. I believe that we are in a time of awakening, a time of revival, and that God is calling His children to repentance and a close walk with Him. I also believe that you my friend are walking with God! I know that you love God, that you listen to Him, and that you want to please Him, I know these things about you. However, there are many Christians in the world today who are not, and it can be very difficult in knowing just who they follow.

I also believe that we are in the last days, the days just before the beginning of the Tribulation period, times which are vitally important to both us as believers and also the unsaved, especially the unsaved! I sense the Holy Spirit moving throughout the land, throughout the world, pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh, calling all believers to live the life called by God, and for unbelievers to see the truth.

I don’t know all things nor do I claim to, but I can sense the moving and outpouring of the Holy Spirit. I believe that time is short, that we must stand firm with God, following in His footsteps and obeying His will.

    God bless sister! Maranatha!

  3. How many people of the 22,000 that attended the Las Vegas concert that got shot up were professing Christians. Many people who call themselves Christian attend these kinds of worldly events.

    Sincerely, Maranatha, Ethin

  4. I want to play the harp a little longer regarding professing Christians participating in carnal, debauchery, fleshly events like those in Vegas. Vegas has been the ruin of many lives and now has an attraction that draws professing Christians by the thousands there constantly.
There are tour busses leaving Orange County and Los Angeles every day with the church elderly going to Vegas to gamble a little and “have fun”. Sin City now has the draw of churches. God help those to gain wisdom to stay away from that evil place.

    Sincerely, Maranatha, Ethin

I hear you brother, and I understand where you are coming from.

But, I have some mixed feelings about this. First of all, we are no longer under the penalty of sin, and I am not saying that we should sin, but what is considered sin? Is gambling a sin? Is entertainment a sin? If it goes against God it is, but does it? Is going to a sinful place a sin? Just what are we to do and not do, and who is to say that they are sinning by going to Las Vegas? Is going to a country and western concert a sin? Is eating meat sin? Is eating meat offered as a sacrifice to idols a sin? It almost sounds like “legalism”. Do the actions of believers going to Las Vegas violate the laws of God?

Vegas could well be compared to ancient Sodom and Gomorrah, after-all it is called Sin City. But wasn’t there a family living there that was found righteous in the eyes of God? Were not Lot and his family saved from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah? They lived in one of the most sinful cities of the world at that time, yet they were righteous in God’s eyes and He saved them from destruction!

Personally, I have no desire to go to Las Vegas, unless perhaps to offer assistance to those in need. Not that I have never been there before, I most certainly have! But, my question is this: “Is it a sin to go to a sinful place?” We are to go into the darkness to shine a light, if not then how do we reach the lost? Just perhaps some of these Christians will be able to share the good news of the gospel. God knows the heart and the intentions of the heart.

    God bless my friend! Maranatha!
