Commentary By: Gordon King
We have all been there, when we hear the truth but we don’t want to, when it cuts to the core and it hurts!
When we hear the truth about something and it goes against what we believe then we often react out of fear and being hurt because we feel as though we are being challenged. We fear what we don’t know, but we also fear that what we are hearing just may be the truth and it may actually change our life.
Most people in the world feel this way when they hear the truth about Jesus Christ, they feel convicted in their soul and it brings up feelings of condemnation!
None of us like being condemned, nor do we want anyone to change us from within. When most people sin they rationalize and justify it in order to make it ordinary, normal, and good. They use human wisdom and reasoning to promote things which are ungodly and unholy.
This is why the world is so adamantly against Jesus Christ and the word of God, and this is why Christians are being persecuted for their faith. They would rather wallow in their sin then hear the truth and make a change. They seek to fill their lives with pleasure and the fulfillment of self at any cost, even at the cost of their own soul!
Even many believers in Jesus Christ often rationalize sin instead of facing it head on for what it really is. They justify it by altering the word of God, or for that matter ignoring what God has to say about it! The twisting of the truth is running rampant not only in society but also in the church! Apostasy in the church is at an all time high, for many who outwardly appear to be righteous and holy, who attend church on a regular basis, in fact deny the power of God.
2 Timothy 3:4
“…lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.“
Instead of seeing the truth for what it really is many choose to turn away from it, to ignore it, and to go so far as twisting it and denying its power! Most of the world would rather rebel against the truth then to believe it and make a change for the better. They stand firm in their own beliefs, many believing in the power of worldly gods, many even believing that they themselves are gods! They hold firm to searching out spirits, however they are not spirits of God Almighty but of Satan! They would rather serve idols then the one and only true God of the universe, Jesus Christ!
And yes, even many who call themselves Christians are being led by demonic spirits, following the doctrines of demons.
1 Timothy 4:1-2
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron“
Giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, isn’t this what we now see happening in many of the churches today? We often hear now of churches with teachings which are not biblical but instead with doctrines which are ungodly. They also seem afraid to preach the truth, the whole truth from the word of God, but instead cherry pick what to teach their congregations. They turn from teaching about sin and disobedience, from heaven and hell, from eternal damnation, to teaching about self-fulfillment and satisfaction, to making people “feel good” about themselves, how to live a happy life, how to be all that you can be, all while denying the power of God, denying the holiness and sanctity of our Lord and Savior!
Many churches believe that Jesus Christ is not the only way to heaven but that there are many ways. Many teach that homosexuality is not a sin but another way of life, not only accepting it but marrying them in the church! And many say that they believe in God, yet they do not apply the word of God to their life, they live as the world lives, they have denied the power of the Holy Spirit, they bear no fruit of the Spirit.
And just how many churches now teach about bible prophecy? How many teach and prepare the church for the times that we are now living in? How many relate what is happening in the world to bible prophecy, to what God told us would happen in the end times? Jesus gave us a command to watch and be ready at all times, for no one knows the day or the hour of His coming. He could snatch us out of the field at any given time!
While we do not know the time when the rapture of the church will be, we are to know the season, and the season is now! He did not want us to be ignorant regarding the gathering together of the church to Himself, but to know the season. Therefore He said to watch and be ready, He told us what to look for in His word, He gave us the signs to watch for, and He expects us to be able to discern the times!
“Then He also said to the multitudes, “Whenever you see a cloud rising out of the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it is. 55 And when you see the south wind blow, you say, ‘There will be hot weather’; and there is. 56 Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, but how is it you do not discern this time?“
It is up to us to know the truth, to hear it and to heed it, whether we want to or not! It is our duty as believers to listen to God, to obey His commands, and to be ready at all times.
“Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them. 38 And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. 39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 40 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.“
Know the truth, be ready at all times by watching and waiting for the Lord’s return! It could happen at any time, His return for the church is imminent!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
