Commentary By: Gordon King
It seems as though the world is at the stage of being torn apart and undermined by the workings of Satan! Society at large is changing from good to bad and from bad to worse. Natural disasters of biblical proportions are increasing at an alarming rate! The persecution of both Christians and Jews is becoming more intense. Lies and untruths are also spreading like wildfire, and the doctrines of demons is leading the masses into destruction!
So just what is actually being caused by Satan and what by God? And does God actually cause many of the disasters that we see in the world today? I know that Satan and his demons are both causing and leading the world into darkness, that they do in fact cause much of the evil in the world today, and if they are not directly responsible they are indirectly. But does God cause evil to happen also? While God does not cause evil to happen, He does allow it to happen, and He does judge the nations with such things as natural disasters and the like.
With all of this happening, many may be wondering just where is God? Well, He is right here where He has always been! He is in our presence. The good Lord has a plan, a plan for the world to know that He is God, and He is the only one to be worshiped! He has a plan for salvation, a plan for redemption, His will is for no one to perish but for all to have eternal life.
Part of God’s plan involves His children, believers in Jesus Christ, but another part of His plan that we do not see with the naked eye is spiritual. God has myriads of angels performing His will both in heaven and here on earth.
“Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. 21 Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You ministers of His, who do His pleasure. 22 Bless the Lord, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!“
“The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary.”
God uses angels to perform His will, just as He also uses us to perform His will here on earth.
We may never know when we have entertained angels. In fact, I believe that I have encountered these angelic beings several times in my life that I know of. One time being when I was in a horrific auto accident a couple of years ago. There was a man who came out of nowhere to help and he left the same way, I did not see his car, but I believe that He was an angel of the Lord protecting me and comforting me.
“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
Angels protect and comfort us
“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”
“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.”
“My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.”
Angels minister to us
“Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?”
“Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.”
Angels help fight our battles
2 Kings 6:17
“Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
They help us in our time of need
“But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said,”
They lead us in the paths of the Lord
“Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place.”
Angels take us where the Lord wants us and has promised to us
“And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
“The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried,”
They announce supernatural events
1 Thessalonians 4:16
“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.”
Angels give revelation of the truth
“I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me,”
Angels give us heavenly knowledge
“But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”
They praise and worship God
‘And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” ‘
“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,”
“But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering,”
Angels take joy and praise God over each repentant sinner
“Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
We must also know that there are fallen angels, those who rebelled against God, Satan and his fallen angels or demons. Many may not believe that the fallen angels are in fact demons, but I do.
“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels”
Whatever the case I am not writing this to argue that point, but to say that there are both godly angels and demonic angels.
“And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—”
We are in a battle, a spiritual battle against the forces of good and evil, of God Almighty and of Satan. We are fighting against spirits, principalities, and powers in heavenly places. But we must rest assured that God is with us, and not only is He with us but so are His heavenly angels! God is using His angels to help us, to comfort us, to support us, to give us knowledge and messages from God, to guide us, to minister to us, and yes even to fight with us and along side of us.
Although angels are supernatural heavenly beings, we are not to worship them ever! We should respect and appreciate them, we should thank them, but we should never bow down to them. We should thank the good Lord in providing these heavenly beings in support of us, in support of God’s will!
If you wonder where God is in all of this mess here on earth just look around, He is everywhere! And not only is He here, but He has sent His angels to help administer His plan, to help and assist us in our time of need.
So the next time a stranger helps you, be nice and kind to them, for you never know if just perhaps you are entertaining angels!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
