Do we follow Man or do we follow God?

Artist’s view of a sacrifice to Moloch in Bible Pictures with brief descriptions by Charles Foster, 1897. Original caption: “This is an idol named Molech. A great many people used to pray to this idol. It had the head of a calf, and was made of brass, and it was hollow inside. There was a place in the side to make a fire in it. When it got very hot the wicked people used to put their little children in its arms. The little children were burned to death there. This man in the picture is just going to put a little child in the idol’s arms. Other men are blowing on trumpets and beating on drums, and making a great noise, so that no one can hear the poor little child cry.”

Who do we follow?  Do we follow the ways of the world or do we follow God?  Are we followers of Jesus Christ or are we followers of man?

Matthew 16:24-28

‘Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. 28 “Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”

Jesus said that if we lose our life for His sake then we shall find it. We are not to follow the world but to take up our cross and follow Him.  We are to allow Christ to live in us and through us.  Amen.

And if we are to let Christ live in us and through us then we are also to stand for what is righteous and holy, not by the standards set by the world.  We are to support those who stand for what is right, who support the teachings of Christ.

There are many issues of the day, many which have been passed by the world which are unholy, unrighteous, and ungodly.  Take for instance abortion and gay marriage, which leaders support these issues and which oppose them?  God opposes them and we should also, we should also pray for and support those who do as well!

Abortion is taking the life of an innocent unborn life, the sacrifice of babies to Satan, just as they did in ancient times when people sacrificed their children to Baal, burned them alive!  The most ironic thing about Baal worship is that Baal was supposedly a god of fertility, yet required human sacrifice.  Jesus loves everyone, and He loved children!

Jeremiah 32:34-35

But they set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to defile it. 35 And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Matthew 19:14

But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” ‘

Isaiah 44:24

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,  And He who formed you from the womb: “I am the Lord, who makes all things,  Who stretches out the heavens all alone,  Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;”

Isaiah 64:8

But now, O LordYou are our Father;  We are the clay, and You our potter;  And all we are the work of Your hand.”

Psalm 139:13-16

For You formed my inward parts;  You covered me in my mother’s womb.  14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;  Marvelous are Your works,  And that my soul knows very well.  15 My frame was not hidden from You,  When I was made in secret,  And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.  16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.  And in Your book they all were written,  The days fashioned for me,  When as yet there were none of them.

Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;  Before you were born I sanctified you;  I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Luke 1:13-15

But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.

Exodus 20:13

You shall not murder.

Deuteronomy 30:19

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live

Psalm 127:3

Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.

Galatians 1:15

But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace.

He did not require us to sacrifice our lives or those of our children, at least not the way they did with Baal.  We make sacrifices for Christ by how we live our life, by living for Christ and not for ourselves.  Christ loves everyone, He opposes murder of both the born and the unborn!

Does it in any way sound like the Lord condones abortion?  He tells us that He chose us before we are even born!  He filled John the Baptist with the Holy Spirit while he was still in the womb!  Why if we are not yet born, if we are not human until birth would God fill John with the Holy Spirit before he is born?!  Abortion is murder, the murder of innocent babies not yet born into this world, the bible is clear about this.  God said that He knew the old testament prophet Jeremiah before he was even formed in the womb, and He sanctified him before he was born!

Gay marriage is an abomination to the Lord!  Homosexuality is an abomination to the Lord!

Romans 1:18-28

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.  28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

Leviticus 18:22

“You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.”

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

“Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

The bible is very clear about abortion and homosexuality, they are abominations to Him.  They are sins.  However, they are not sins that cannot be forgiven, of course they can!  A person must repent of these sins and ask forgiveness from the Lord, believe that Jesus Christ is God and accept Him as your Lord and Savior, then you will be forgiven in Jesus name.

If you have committed either of these sins and have repented and accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior then do not worry.  God loves you unconditionally and has forgiven you!  Your sins have been washed clean.

As followers of Jesus Christ we must support those who support the ways of the Lord, we must support those who support God Almighty!  We must pray for our leaders, we must pray for the lost, and we must pray for the good Lord to guide our paths and to perform His will on earth.

We must not hate those who commit sins, either abortion, homosexuality, or any other sin, we must love them!  We must show them the way, love them as God loves us, and treat them with kindness.  We must let them know that God will forgive them, that He loves them and wills for no one to perish but for everyone to have eternal life!  This does not mean that we agree with them, nor does it mean that we compromise our faith and beliefs, it means that we must allow Christ to live in us and through us.  Amen.

It is by the grace of God that we are saved, that we are given the gift of eternal life!

Followers of the world say that abortion is our right, that homosexuality is another acceptable way of life.  God says that they are abominations to Him.  Do we follow man or do we follow God?

Accept Jesus Christ now as your Lord and Savior!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. Dear Gordon, I have been really moved to prayer for the unborn and to petition on their behalf this year. My Niece has had a baby and we are all held in awe of this little sign and wonder from our wonderful creator. Even those who do not have a loving relationship with God in my family find they cannot deny God’s existence when they observe in great detail the miracle of creation.
I agree with you that even those sins that are referred to as abominations in the sight of God can be forgiven and cleansed away in the blood of Jesus and all can find mercy at the foot of the cross. We are all sinners when we first come to Christ, yet redeemed by the blood of The Lord Jesus and made right in God’s sight by faith in Jesus and not by our own self righteousness. We can come as we are when we recognise ourselves as sinners because only as we submit to Christ can the deathblow to self be wrought. There is nothing in our flesh that will be patched up…. it is death to self and new life in the Spirit it is a miracle just as the life of a new born baby is. It is Christ in us that gives us a new spiritual birth then we are a new creation in Him and have His victory over all sin. We can be sin free but only in Christ , when we walk according to the Spirit and not the Flesh. He is The Way The Truth and The Life !

    King James Bible Isaiah 55:1
Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

    John 4:10-14King James Version (KJV)
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

  2. Thanks for your comment Christine!

I thought that it was from you but wasn’t quite sure.

Your comment was beautifully written and so true! God is so good, forgiving us of all of our sins and giving to us eternal life, sacrificing Himself for the sins that we have committed. I don’t think that most people really understand just what it is that He has done for us, just how wonderful, magnificent, and glorious it is!

    God bless Sister! Maranatha!
