No Longer Condemned!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

As believers in Jesus Christ we have been set free of the law of sin and death, no longer bound by its chains, no longer condemned by the flesh.  The law of sin and death is walking according to the flesh, the law of God is walking according to the Spirit.   God’s laws bring sin and death to those walking according to the flesh, to those in rebellion to Him.  His laws are good, they are perfect and show man the sin that exists in his life.  On the contrary, God’s laws bring life, eternal life to those walking according to the Spirit, to those indwelt with the Holy Spirit, freeing us of the law of sin and death!

Romans 8:1-2

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

We now follow the law of God, being justified through Christ, being saved by grace, found worthy by Christ in the eyes of our Father in Heaven!  If God is for us then who can be against us?  Who is it that can condemn us?  It is Jesus Christ who condemns, it is He who justifies.

Romans 8:31-39

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus Christ saved us, He justified us, sanctifies us, and has already glorified us (we are being glorified but it is not finished, yet in the eyes of God it is already done, a done deal!).

Romans 8:30

Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

He sits at the right hand of our Father in Heaven as our intercessor, pleading our case on His behalf.  And if God is for us then who can be against us?  If we are already found worthy, justified, then how can we be condemned?  We cannot!  We have been given eternal life, yet those condemned under the law of sin and death are headed for eternal death, or separation from God forever.

Nothing shall separate us from the love of God, nothing!  We are His now and forevermore.

Jesus Christ came into this world and fulfilled the Mosaic law, He did not abolish it but fulfilled it!  He is the only one who could ever fulfill it, and thus He did.  The perfect law of God fulfilled by God Himself.  Laws written to show the sin of man, written to show the need for God!  The fulfillment of the law in order to bring in grace, salvation through the blood of Christ, the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Believers in Jesus Christ are no longer condemned by sin, we have been set free!  We have conquered and overcome the law of sin and death through the Spirit of Jesus Christ!

As long as you are still alive and able to make an eternal decision then it is not too late!  You still have the opportunity to be saved and given eternal life.  No matter what you have done in this life you can be forgiven.  All of us have sinned, we have all done things that we regret, yet all believers have been forgiven and you can be also!

Accept Jesus Christ now as your Lord and Savior!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!
