Commentary By: Gordon King
There is so much chaos and confusion in the world today, so much evil and violence, so many disasters of biblical proportions! What are those of the world thinking about these things? Just what is their rationale or explanation of why these things are taking place and do they fear what is coming upon the face of the earth?
First of all, as believers in Jesus Christ we are not to fear, we have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, of love, and of a sound mind. What we see happening in the world was foretold to us in the bible, they are signs of what is coming, signs of the closeness of Christ’s return for His bride and of His second coming to earth. What is happening should strengthen our faith and beliefs in Jesus Christ and His word, proving that bible prophecy will in fact come to pass just as it is written.
Jesus Christ will in fact return to earth, it was prophesied to happen just as His first coming was also prophesied and it also came to pass! God’s children were told exactly what would happen when Christ returned and it happened exactly as foretold. If this is the case then why wouldn’t His second coming also happen just as it was foretold?! It will my friends, it will! Yet, at the time when Christ came first many did not believe, their expectations were much different then how Jesus came in, meek, mild, and humble, loving and kind, they did not understand that their Messiah would come not only once but twice! The first time meek and mild, forgiving and submissive, the second time in all of His glory as the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS, conquering with the fierceness and wrath of God Almighty!
Revelation 19:11-16
“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had[ a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:
KING OF KINGS AND
LORD OF LORDS.”
This is the Messiah that the Jews were expecting, this is who they wanted to see at His first coming, but it wasn’t so, they did not understand nor did they really want to.
This is similar to what we see today when many believers do not take notice of what is happening in the world around them let alone relate it to bible prophecy. When many believers would rather continue to live their life here on earth than for Jesus Christ to return soon and take them to heaven!
So what about the world, just what do they think about all of this happening in the world today and how do they rationalize it all?
I believe that most people of the world rationalize what is happening by telling themselves that “it’s just the way things are” or “it’s merely a coincidence”, perhaps even “man has made such a mess of the world that we are now suffering the consequences of our actions”, that latter of which does hold some validity.
They attempt to find scientific explanations of why things are the way that they are, when in fact they really just prove what the bible has said for thousands of years. Most of what they come up with is speculation at best, with many unanswered questions looming in the darkness.
And then I believe that many don’t take much notice to it all, or at least they pretend not to! They seek the false security of their daily lives, drugs, alcohol, sex, or idolatry to help deaden their senses, this is the world that we live in. If they stay busy enough perhaps things will change, perhaps they will just go away and things will get better!
However, there will also be those who seek more clarification of what is happening, they will seek the truth, some in the wrong direction some in the right. These are the ones who may be willing to hear what God has to say, those with an open mind, with eyes willing to see, ears willing to hear, and hearts softened just enough to understand.
When people come to the end of themselves, when they fear what is happening, when all seems lost, then some will turn to God Almighty! It is during times of tragedy and turmoil, of pain and suffering that people seek God. These are the times when people unite, when they seek more than what is within themselves.
So the question of whether or not people of the world fear what is happening, some do and some don’t. Many just rationalize it all away, never seeking the truth, never finding God, even though He is standing right in front of them, they continue on with their lives as if all is “normal”. There are those however who will seek the truth, they will find God, and they will be saved. This is why God is patient, this is why God seems to tarry, not for our suffering, but for the salvation of the lost!
As children of the living God, Jesus Christ, we have nothing to fear. We know that things in this world will continue to get bad, but this should instill within us great hope and joy! Because the worse things get the closer we are to the completion of our salvation, our glorification, and our uniting with Jesus Christ for eternity!
God is sending a message to the world, repent of your sins and believe in me. Turn from your wicked ways for time is short. What has been foretold in bible prophecy is coming to pass. I came once and I will come again!
Accept Jesus Christ now as your Lord and Savior!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
