Believers in a World Gone Mad!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

I can’t help but feel the pain of those suffering in the world, those lost and without hope, those whose mind is twisted and depraved.  It grieves my heart to think of what is destined for such people, to think of what they believe to be the truth yet is nothing more than sugar-coated lies and deceptions.

And even though we tell them the truth, even though they can see it with their own eyes, they continue to believe untruths to the beat of a different drummer, to the demise of their very being.  They seek what they believe is good, they seek the pleasures which they believe will make them happy, yet in the end will bring upon them death and destruction!

How do we as believers in Jesus Christ respond to such people?  With hatred and shame, or with love and an open heart?

It isn’t always easy being a Christian, especially in the world today.  It’s not always so cut and dry these days, having one side to stand on, yet showing love and sympathy for those deviating from God’s word.  Yet it must be done.  We as believers in Jesus Christ are to love everyone, even our enemies, to bless those that curse us, and to pray for our enemies.

However, that does not mean that we support their sinful lifestyles, nor does it mean that we engage in those activities ourselves.  On the contrary, we love those who rebel against God Almighty, yet we hate the sin!  We hate what God has told us is ungodly, yet we are to love those who are lost, just as God first loved us as sinners.

Trying to figure out the world these days seems to be a futile task, with transsexuals, homosexuals, transvestites, and people who are just not sure what they are!  With the government telling schools that they must allow anyone to use any bathroom depending upon what sex they feel that they are that day.  With society now telling us that if you are not in agreement with any of these things then you are a hater!

I do not remember any time in my life when these things were an issue, or when very young children were telling their parents that they are the opposite sex from what they were born, and parents beginning treatments for sex changes of their children at an early age.  However, now things are very different, these things are now commonplace, they are becoming societal norms, and if you are in disagreement with them then you are seen as a hater!  Here we are, believers in Jesus Christ in a world gone mad!

Why do we all of the sudden see these things taking place?  Why is it that these things seem to have come full force to the forefront?  Could it be that we are approaching a time of no return?  That what is about to happen in this world will forever change the lives of billions of people worldwide?  I believe that it is.

I believe that we are quickly approaching the return of Jesus Christ to this planet, that the end of all things as we know it is coming to a close.  I believe that all of these things taking place are signs of the closeness of Christ’s return to earth!

So the question is, do we love those who are lost and wandering down the wrong paths, or do we hate them?  Do we continue to share the love of God with them or do we condemn them for the error of their ways?  Ours is not to condemn but to share the love of God with a hurting world.  Ours is not to judge, for that is reserved for Jesus Christ Himself!

We all have sinned, we all fall short of the glory of God, yet God still loved us, He forgave us of our sins, washed us clean, and continues to cleanse us of all unrighteousness!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. I have an older sister who has drifted away from Christianity and does not speak to rest of the family. She is 42, she spends most of the time on her mobile phone. I feel over the months and the last couple of years she seems to be drifting away from the rest of us.

  2. Thank you for your post Gordon . It is a minefield of deception and delusion or even illusions in this world . We must continue to occupy ourselves with the work the Lord calls us to and remain faithful until He comes. I know things will only get worse just as in the days of Noah and the majority of people will not want to hear the message or face up to the truth of what is really going on behind the scenes in this world. Many I know don’t want to even watch the news or read the newspaper and only want to hear smooth things so they can go on living in their own little bubbles. I pray that The Lord will shake this world so hard that people will be forced awake so they may cry out to God before the time of God’s wrath is truly being poured out in full measure on all who have rejected the truth and have loved the lie. I am noticing that nearly all the 81 people (Non Christians) I have shared with on Facebook over the past 3 years are stonewalling me these days and the only one who does comment on my posts to warn and encourage does so in a very antagonistic and hateful way. However I continue to pray for Him and I have no bad feelings towards Him because I know it is a spiritual battle not against flesh and blood, we must forgive and leave the outcomes to The Lord and watch our hearts .- Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled. (Hebrews 12:14-15)

    God bless you brother!

    • Thanks for your comment Christine!

It is a sad thing when people, especially believers turn away from hearing the truth about the times that we are living in. Many believers do not want to hear about bible prophecy, nor relate it to what is now happening in the world around us. I just don’t get it! Why in the world would a Christian not want to know about bible prophecy, about what is happening in our world today, the world all around them?

We must always remember to love everyone, even our enemies, even those who come against us, for like you said, we battle not against flesh and blood but against spirits, principalities, and powers. Ours is not to condemn or judge, but to love and share God’s message.

      God bless sister! Maranatha!

  3. Very well said, Gordon. In a world full of inner pain, we can only show the love of Christ in us, show the fruits of the Spirit in us (Galatians 5:22,23). Let your life speak for others to see. And those who get it will seek you, those who don’t will pass you by. It’s all in God’s hands.
Pray for all to see the beauty He offers in every spectrum of our lives. He does not force Himself on anyone He gently nuggist, it’s our choice to follow.
God listens to sincere prayers. He is kind and compassionate. Let’s pray often.
    Shalom my friend. Maranatha!
