Commentary By: Gordon King
I’ve noticed that this year has been a year of crisis and turmoil, a year when demonic spirits are attacking in numbers. Spiritual darkness is spreading and seeking the destruction of many souls, seeking to destroy the very fabric of not only society but also the very heart of what ties us together, our relationships!
I know that I am not the only one witnessing such atrocities, that there are many others out there who have either witnessed or are involved in relationships which have either gone bad, are being torn apart, or suffering in some way. This my friends is the work of the devil, the incarnation of evil spirits into the lives of so many around the world.
We must always remember that Satan seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, that means by whatever means possible! It means that he seeks to destroy our lives in any way that he can, including our relationships with one another and with God Almighty!
We must also remember that the penalty for sin is death! This means that the product of sin is no good, in fact it will only bring us harm and disaster! When we sin we sow seeds which will one day sprout and bring with them destruction, death, pain, and suffering. This is why the good Lord warns us of the danger of sin and the works of the devil!
Satan is a liar and the father of all lies, he will tell you that the sinful desires that you may seek will bring you pleasure and happiness, which may be true for a little while, but what he doesn’t tell you is that they will also bring death and destruction! He doesn’t tell you just how damaging sin is, and the after effects of that sin in our lives.
Our relationships with one another are to be as God ordained them to be, righteous, pure, and holy. When we approach them in the spirit, with a pure heart and with the right motives then God will bless us in them. However, when we approach them in the flesh, from a sinful nature, and with motives which are not godly, then we will sow the benefits of that sin!
People often wonder just why their relationships don’t work out? Why they keep failing, why they just don’t work out the way that they thought they would. All relationships require work, they are not easy, they require time, communication, love, and forgiveness, a humble heart, words of encouragement, and putting the others needs ahead of our own.
I would bet a dollar to a dime that there is something about many relationships which were just not done the right way, with a pure heart, with godly motives, and within the will of God Almighty. Perhaps two people were not equally yoked, not both believing in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, or perhaps they were in a sexual relationship before marriage, or maybe they never did get married! Or perhaps people fight and quarrel, not coming from a loving heart, but rather for a need to justify their own means, not of the spirit but of the flesh! This list could go on and on, but my point here is that if we do not approach our relationships with the right heart, mind, soul, and spirit, then they are more than likely headed for disaster.
And the same holds true for our relationship with God. If we come to Him full of pride and arrogance then the relationship is on the way to failure and more than likely was never a good relationship, not due to God’s part but due to our part! Or if we seek Him merely when we are in need of something, then what real relationship are we building with God? And if we do not really believe God or place our trust in Him, then just how are we to expect God to help us, guide us, or bless us? Being a believer in Jesus Christ means to put aside our own lives and put on Christ! It means to humble ourselves, to love Him more than anything, to perform His will not our own, to believe God, to listen to God, to trust and place our faith in God!
Our relationship with God Almighty can be torn apart by Satan if we listen to his lies. It can literally dwindle to a spark from what once may have been a roaring fire! Satan wishes to destroy relationships between God and His children, this is his will. And if we listen to the world rather than listen to God, then we are headed in the direction of a failed and/or suffering relationship with God!
It is the will of God for all of us to have a close and personal relationship with Him! It is also His will for us to have a godly, spiritual, and healthy relationship with each other!
We all get what we put into a relationship, whether it be from the heart with godly morals and values, or from the flesh with selfishness, pride, arrogance, lust, and worldly pleasures as our motives. They will either grow and mature into wonderful gifts from God, or they will wither and die as the result of sinful desires!
I don’t have all of the answers, but I do know that God wants us to approach Him and life itself with His principles, His morals, and His values. He warns us over and over again about the workings of Satan, about being led astray, and about the penalty of sin!
If and when we find ourselves in a struggling relationship then we should and must seek God first! We need to put aside our pride and arrogance, bow down with a humble heart to the One who created us, and seek His wisdom and guidance. When we can find it within ourselves to do these things, then we will be headed in the right direction, on the right path, doing the right thing.
There are relationships which should never be, and then there are relationships which just may need God’s intervention for healing. We all need help, we all need healing, and we all need God to lead us in the right direction. Seek the Lord, resist the devil, and walk in the spirit! Ask the good Lord for wisdom and understanding, for peace, comfort and protection. Do what is right in the eyes of the Lord and He shall make all things work together for your good, for the good of all who love Him, all who are called according to His purpose! Amen. You must know the Lord for these things to be true, you must be born again to receive the promises of God!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
