All have been lost, all sinners, born with a sin nature into this world. Not one person was born with a holy and righteous nature, even Adam and Eve were not born but created from the dust of the earth.
God did not come to save the righteous and the holy, but to save sinners, of which we all were.
So this begs the question: “After we are saved, are we still sinners?”
Even though everyone sins, yes, even believers sin, are believers still considered sinners after being born again? What does the bible say about this?
In one way we are saved sinners, but does this mean that we are still sinners? I would say emphatically no! We are not. Sinners are unsaved, lost, without God. And although believers still commit sins, we are not sinners!
Romans 8:1-4
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.“
Our sin has been nailed to the cross, put to death by the blood of Jesus! We have been made free of the law of sin and death. The law of sin and death was fulfilled when Jesus Christ died on the cross, and He did it for us!
As believers in Jesus Christ, we have been made new creations, given a new spirit, and found holy and righteous in the eyes of God Almighty!
As believers in Jesus Christ we have been made kings and priests, a holy nation.
Revelation 1:5-6
“…To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
1 Peter 2:9
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”
We are His own special people, a chosen generation, precious in the eyes of God.
For any believer to say that we are still sinners would be like saying that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has no bearing on our salvation. We are not sinners, we are holy and righteous, of a royal priesthood, kings and priests of God Almighty!
We are left upon this earth for a purpose, and as priests of God that purpose is to fulfill God’s will on earth! Sinners never again! Kings and priests forevermore!
This is God’s plan, for us to be saved from the sins of the world, to be taken out of the world, to be found holy and righteous by the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, who put to death for us the law of sin and death, nailed it to the cross and buried it for all of eternity!
As believers we can still sin, we still have a sin nature, but we are not sinners! When we sin then we can separate ourselves from communication with God, but we cannot separate ourselves from God, there is a difference.
It is not by our own works that we are saved, nor is it by our own works that we are then lost, if this were true then none of us would retain our salvation! No one is worthy enough to be saved, by the same token, no one is worthy enough to keep his or her salvation either. It is only by the grace of God that we are saved, and only by His grace that we remain saved, if not then we are all in trouble!
If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, then know that you are no longer a sinner, but a precious child of the Almighty God of the universe! Holy and righteous in His eyes, through the blood of the Lamb, justified by His blood, sanctified by Him, and to be glorified by Him also, not by ourselves or “anything” that we do or don’t do!
Don’t allow Satan to deceive you into believing that you are not good enough ( because none of us are) and will never make it or that you are still a sinner, but instead know that you have been found worthy through the blood of Jesus Christ! You are no longer a sinner, you are a saved, born again, justified, being sanctified, child of God Almighty!
Thank God for His grace and mercy, thank Him for what He has done and is continuing to do in your life! He has made you a saint forevermore!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
It bothers me to no end when converted people refers to themselves as “just a um-ble sinner” It makes me wonder how many people who think they are saved are really lost.
Sincerely, Ethin
Thanks for your comment Ethin!
This begs the question as you have stated, “Just how many people think that they are saved when they are really lost”? I often wonder that myself. Many people say that they are Christians, yet they bear no fruit, they continue to live a life of sin, and many even justify their sin with twisted bible verses. This saddens me to no end. Yet try and show them the error of their ways and they will continue to twist the scriptures to meet their own needs.
God bless! Maranatha!
