Commentary By: Gordon King
What does insanity and the end times have in common? They are both marked by the presence of evil, by the overwhelming increase in evil spirits leading the lost to perform crazy acts, rebellious acts of chaos, confusion, and violence.
This common thread is what divides good from evil, right from wrong, and the holy from the unholy. It is what separates the godly from the ungodly, from those in rebellion to God and to those following God and His ways. Society will continue on a downward spiral until the coming of the Messiah, until his physical appearance upon the earth, upon His second coming.
2 Timothy 3
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!“
These are signs that the closeness of Christ is at hand, that the return of our Lord and Savior is even at the door! They are not merely signs of the times, but bible prophecy! These are prophecies which are now coming to pass in our time.
“And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.“
There are many who preach that the gospel must be preached to “every” person before the end will come, however, Jesus said that it will be preached “in all the world to all nations,” not to every person before the end comes. So then just how close are we? With all of the modern technology, television, internet, radio, and cell phones worldwide it would seem that this is very close to being fulfilled if it hasn’t already! I mean, the world really isn’t all that big, and with all of this technology it sure would seem like this should have already happened.
Whatever the case maybe, we are getting much closer to the return of Christ than ever before, and with all of the signs now coming into play it would seem even much closer! There are more prophecies which are coming to pass, and more which are ready to come to pass. Here are a few of them:
“Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap.“
“And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.“
Gog and Allies Attack Israel
All of these are prophecies I believe will take place before the Tribulation period begins, however with that being said, I also believe that the rapture of the church will occur before this time, I know many of you don’t agree with me and we won’t all agree on everything.
The rapture of the church is also bible prophecy!
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
1 Corinthians 15:51-53
“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.“
There are many, many more prophecies which will occur at the beginning of the Tribulation period and after, such as the coming of the Lawless one, the confirming of a covenant with Israel, God’s outpouring of His wrath upon the wicked, the abomination of desolation, the Mark of the Beast, the intense persecution of believers, the fleeing of Jews from Israel, the recognition of Jesus Christ by a remnant of Jews as their true Messiah, the second coming of Christ, and the Millennium period when Christ will rule the earth for one thousand years, and on and on it goes!
We are living in a time when bible prophecy is being fulfilled at a fast pace, when we can actually see it happening and falling into place, when ancient scripture is coming to life right before our very eyes! We can relate what we see happening in the world to biblical scripture and make sense of all the chaos, confusion, and insanity in the world around us. If we didn’t know Christ, if we didn’t know what was written in scripture, then we may be fearing for our lives! But as believers in Jesus Christ we can rest assured that our salvation is affirmed, that what God tells us will happen will happen, that what is happening in the world will take place for a reason, and the end result is our eternal salvation with God forever!
We are here for a reason, if not then God could have just taken us home once we were saved, but He didn’t! We are here on a mission for God, each and every one of us, we all have a purpose in this life. And when times get dark we can remember that God does have us here for a reason, that He is with us to see us through, and that if we are doing God’s will then nothing can stop us from accomplishing His will but ourselves. If God is with us and for us then who can stand against us?!
As believers in Jesus Christ we have Him living within us, we are His temple on this earth. None of us are perfect, we all make mistakes, we all at times sin, yet we are children of the Most High God of the universe! Let us be the people who He created, each of us with our own unique personalities, our own faults and weakness, yet created in His image. He loves us for who we are not who we wish that we were or who we want to be. Remember, God gives grace to the humble, but He resists the proud. Let us not think more of ourselves than we really are, but humble ourselves before God and give Him the thanks, worship, praise and glory that He deserves.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
