The Light of Christ!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

As the world darkens the light shines brighter, and as evil escalates the good overtakes the bad in the life of a believer.

There is a reason that believers in Jesus Christ shine during times of darkness and desperation.  It is not us who shine but it is Christ within us that shines through us!

It is written that the word of God does not return to Him void.

Isaiah 55:11

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;  It shall not return to Me void,  But it shall accomplish what I please,  And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Just as God’s word does not return to Him void but accomplishes His will, the light of Christ does not shine without breaking the darkness and accomplishing God’s will.

Perhaps we don’t always say or do the right thing, but it is not us who shines the light but God!  It is not our light that shines but the light of Christ.  His light is more powerful than anything, it has the power to do great and miraculous things, it can accomplish anything!

We are seen by our actions, by our beliefs, and by our way of life.  When we allow Christ to shine through us then we are performing God’s will not our own.  And when the world notices these things then they will be effected by them.  They will either be touched and impacted by the light of Christ, or they will turn and run away!

Performing God’s will is not only spreading the gospel, but by living a godly life, a life which will have a dramatic impact on the life of an unbeliever.  This is how we are to live, not as the world, but as the light of Christ in the world.

It isn’t always easy to live a godly life, nor do we always submit to the will of God.  This is especially true in these end times, when the world is becoming darker and more evil, when the majority of people are rebelling against God and His ways.  The pressure that we endure can make it seem insurmountable, as if all is lost.  However, we have God within us, and we must as Christians allow Him to live through us.

If and when we fall we must get back up, shake off the dust, and move on in God’s will.  None of us are perfect, we all make mistakes, and at times we all will sin.  When you sin and it doesn’t bother you than something is wrong, however if you are a born again believer in Jesus Christ then it will bother you!  Repent of your sins and ask the good Lord to forgive you and He will, as Christ has already paid the price for all of our sins, each and everyone!

We cannot remain in sin, this is ungodly and unfruitful.  If we live a life of sin then how are we to allow the light of Christ to shine through us?  We cannot serve two masters but only one, nor can we be a light to the world and make an impact in the lives of unbelievers if we continue in sin.

Unfortunately even as believers in Christ we will at times sin, and the world will focus on this sin when forming opinions about Christians, when instead they should be focusing on Jesus and what He has done for us.  This is one reason so many do not believe, they focus in on the sins of the believers instead of the Savior of the world!  They fail to see what God has done in our lives, what God is doing, His mercy and forgiveness, and His gift of eternal salvation.

With Christ as our life we have the light that breaks the darkness, however without Christ we have no light, for the light is not in us.  And if we say that we have the light but do not follow Christ then we are deceiving ourselves!  Let us not fool ourselves into believing that we are saved because we go to church or read the bible, neither of these things save.  It is only by repenting of ones sins and accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior that one inherits eternal life!  Many people believe that because they have done good things and that they are basically a good person then they will get to heaven.  This is a great deception and a lie!  No one is good, not one!  We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God!  It is only by God’s grace and mercy do we receive the free gift of salvation, but we must repent, believe, and accept.  Then and only then can we say that we are going to heaven, when we have a change of mind and heart, when we choose to believe and follow Christ!  Then we can say without a doubt that we are truly saved!

And when the light of Christ shines through us to those living in the world, it shall break through the darkness, penetrating the mind, the heart, the bone and the marrow.  It is sharper than any two-edged sword, more powerful than anything else!  It has the power to change, the power to restore, and the power to save!

In these end times we will surely endure tribulation, we shall suffer loss, and we will walk through the darkness.  So when the darkness becomes almost unbearable, remember that it is the light of Christ within us that has the power to overcome.  It is His power against which nothing can stand nor can anything prevail unless it is according to His will.

Allow the light of Christ to shine in your life, overcome the darkness and live the life of Christ!

Get Saved Now!  Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!
