Commentary By: Gordon King
What will the world look like in our near future? Will it get better with time or will it continue to decay at a rapid pace as it has over the past several decades? Will society reach a tipping point in which the majority will see the errors of their ways or will it also continue to decay and become even more demoralized?
I for one do not see the world nor society becoming somehow enlightened and turning from bad to good, at least not on a grand scale. Nor do I believe that the world itself will somehow heal itself from years of abuse and disaster after disaster.
If we study bible prophecy then we will know how it turns out, that things in this world will only continue to get worse, at least until the second coming of Christ. We live in a fallen world, a world of decay, a world where things go from good to bad, from new to old.
There are ways to stop the decay, to refresh what is old and worn out. We can paint our home, rebuild what is tired and broken, restore back to life what is dead and discarded.
Isn’t it nice when we can throw out the old dead flowers and plants in our home and replace them with the new and the living? We can refresh our home with new life, but we can refresh ourselves with new life as well!
Yes, there is one way that we can renew our-self, not our physical self but our spirit, forever! If all those living in the world would choose to refresh themselves with living water, then they all could have a new life, they could be refreshed and made new. However, we can see that this will never happen, and we also know by studying scripture that it will never happen.
Jesus Christ is offering new life, He raises the dead and He makes new creations. He is the Creator, the only Creator, the only way to be made new! Not only does He create but he renews and restores. And even as believers He refreshes us each and everyday. As a car battery looses its charge it can be recharged and made new, so too can we be recharged, our batteries can be made new.
There is coming a time when the good Lord will destroy what has been made and create a new heaven and a new earth. But before that time He will restore what has been made and will rule and reign on this earth for one thousand years! It will be a time when all of those living on earth will once again have a chance to accept Him or not, and believe it or not many will still choose to rebel! Even after everything the world has gone through, they will choose to rebel.
Scripture tells us that most will not follow the narrow path which leads to heaven, yet they will follow many paths which lead to destruction.
The things which were foretold thousands of years ago by the old testament prophets will soon come to pass on this planet. They will all happen with 100% accuracy! We are not to fear what is soon coming upon the world, but rejoice in knowing that our Lord is coming soon! That He will rule and reign for 1000 years and forever more.
Let us all rejoice in our blessed hope, our reuniting with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
