Suffering in the Darkness!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

1 Peter 4:7

“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.”

I can feel the spiritual darkness surrounding me like a swarm of locusts, covering me and overwhelming my soul.  I grasp for air as the pressure mounts, and my heart beats as if it wants to explode!  This is how I feel at times, when the ways of the world become overwhelming and the darkness closes in.

At what point does the darkness in the world become more than the light?  Is it even possible?  At what point do evil people surpass in numbers those that are holy and righteous, and have we already passed that point?

It seems as though there is an event horizon coming to pass, a time of no return, a time when the spiritual darkness becomes so overwhelming that things in this world get totally out of control.  Have we already passed that point?  Has the darkness already become so overwhelming that there is no turning back?

I believe that we are fast approaching a breaking point in this world, a time which will trigger a number of prophetic events.  A time of great darkness, when the ruler of this world causes as many as possible to succumb to his evil deeds and plans.

I’m not exactly sure why I am feeling such darkness and evil this year, but I know that I am.  And it feels like this darkness is quickly closing in around me from all sides!

1 Peter 4:12

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were to happen to you.”

We should not fear what is coming upon the world, nor should we be surprised.  But we should rejoice as we share Christ’s sufferings.

1 Peter 4:13

“But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.”

1 Peter 4:19

“Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.”

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!

  1. This is happening to almost all of the believers
that I know Gordon. It’s horrible. There are
    evil individuals everywhere terrorizing innocent
individuals and even our children. I’ve put
prayer requests in to numerous individuals
that are strong in their faith. I’ll include
you in my prayers! God Bless!

  2. Hello Gordon, you are spot on! The darkness is pressing in from all sides and I too have been wondering like you are when will it be so dark that it will be too hard to work. I know nothing is impossible for God but it seems like there is a great interest in spiritual things just not in the things of the real Jesus Christ and The Cross. There is a great interest in Angels, channelling to get Angel messages for daily encouragement and guidance a little bit of Jesus thrown in but not thee true Jesus. also in the teachings of Buddhism, Yoga and meditation tuning into the third eye for awareness of your higher power/ God consciousness etc. I am standing to deliver, praying praying and praying!!! So many of my acquaintances are under deception of these kinds.

I have been watching and listening to Adrian Rogers on youtube , (He has now gone to be with The Lord) , His preaching and teaching sermons are spot on! He passed in 2005 , His teaching was very relevant for those times and the end times but it is amazing just how much things have moved on (in a dark way) since 2005. I like being able to listen to old time preachers like Him it is so refreshing but also saddening to realise how much deception is now in the structured churches the false prophets and the wolves have infiltrated many of them in the West. I pray God will raise His standard in the Nations and strengthen His Beautiful Bride to stand true to Him and no other in these times and in the face of all opposition in the church and out.

    God Bless you Gordon

    • Thanks for your comment Christine!

Things are really getting dark spiritually! I can feel it, and I can sense it all around me. The evil, the wickedness, the chaos and the confusion, all on the rise, intense on trying to prevent God’s children from performing His will on earth. The stronger a believer is in the Lord, the more they will suffer from these evil attacks from the enemy.

May we all pray for one another and support each other in performing God’s will, that the good Lord will give us all the strength and the courage to carry on and remain steadfast in our faith and our beliefs of the truth and our devotion to our Savior, Jesus Christ! Amen.

      God bless! Maranatha!

  3. Thank you for the reminder! Enduring it can make one feel very much alone and vulnerable – even KNOWING God is on our side and that His plans and purposes will prevail. I feel it. I live in the middle of the Bible Belt where there is a church on every corner and two in between and can tell you that it is happening HERE – and if you mention it to “christians” their response is most often to ask what you are doing wrong (or, otherwise, why would God allow bad things to happen to you), rather than to see all you are doing right! I stand on Romans 8:28 and Phillipians 4:13. I’m gladdened knowing that what is happening portends the soon return of Christ for His Church and prayerful for those who are oblivious to the signs of His coming.
    God bless you all!
And, again, thank you to all who have sites such as this to give us a connection to God’s Word and other Christians undergoing the same “light afflictions”.

    • Thanks for your comment Jenny, and you are very welcome!

It doesn’t make much sense to me that many if not most Christians do not believe that we will not or should not suffer in this life time! If we are following Jesus Christ then we should suffer to some extent, and if we are faithful and true to Him then we will suffer even more. I’m not the one who said it Jesus did.

So why is it that so many believers feel that if we are saved then we will live a life pain free?! And why is it that so many Christians believe that God is only a God of love, that He does not judge nor will He bring great wrath upon the unbelievers or that He will not chasten His children? God is a God of love, He is love, but He is also a God of judgment and wrath. When we make God up to be the way that we want Him to be instead of the way that we are told He truly is in scripture, then we are in fact creating our own god! And when we make up things about how we are supposed to be or not be as believers, then we are making up our own religion.

I wonder just how many of these Christians actually read and study the bible? I wonder just how close they are in their relationship with God?

We can’t change the minds and hearts of people that’s God’s job, but we can tell them how it is and how it should be according to God’s word.

      God bless! Maranatha!
