This is not the most pleasant of posts, and in fact many may argue that they just don’t need to hear such things. But, I would argue that we most certainly do! The world around us is an ugly place and becoming uglier by the day, we must be aware and not ignorant of the times, but informed, alert, and ready.
As the days go by faster and faster so too does the evil in the world. The evil is increasing at an unbelievable speed, and not only is it increasing but spreading like a wild-fire!
We have recently witnessed the Syrian president once again use chemical weapons against his own people with at least 80 reportedly being killed. Whatever happened to that “red-line” president Obama drew in the sand? Obama sat and did nothing, however president Trump has responded by bombing a Syrian airbase with 59 cruise missiles.
It simply amazes me at how some people can treat other people, at the blatant disregard for human life! I watched a movie last night called “The Hurt Locker”, where American troops in Iraq were sent out to disarm live explosive devices. It shows just how cold-blooded and cruel people can be. When a group of people are set out to destroy the lives of others, even sacrificing their own people in the name of hatred and evil.
As believers do we support stopping such atrocities or do we sit back and do nothing but pray to God? Do we defend the rights of innocent civilian lives or do we just let the evil happen and do nothing? These are questions that we should all be asking ourselves. I for one think that we should do what we can to stop such evils in the world, that ISIS and its evil ideologies must be stopped! I am in no way stating that we should not pray, in fact this should be the first thing we do! However, faith without works is dead, and if we say to someone who is starving, eat and be filled, yet give them nothing to eat, then what good have we done? Even so, if we say to these evil people committing such heinous crimes stop, yet we then do nothing to stop them, what good have we also done? We must support our government in fighting such evils.
The evil is coming home my friends, and I would have to say that it is already here! What we see happening in the rest of the world is coming to our own backyard. Not only terrorists, but the evil and the wickedness. People are becoming lawless, unbridled, without disregard for the well-being of others. This is not just a prediction of what will come, but a sense of what is here now and getting worse!
Look around you, become aware of your surroundings and the people around you. Pay attention to what is happening around you, discern the good from the bad. We fight against evil spirits, but we also at times fight against evil people controlled by evil spirits. Jesus said beware of men, we should take heed to that.
I’m not saying to go out and become a vigilante, we must let our government take care of business. However, we do have a God-given right to defend ourselves and our loved ones.
The bad news is that there are people out there who wish to do harm to innocent people, the good news is that we have God on our side! We should all pray for peace, for protection, for guidance, and for wisdom. We should strive to live peaceably with all men and share the love of God.
However, at times this is not possible, for there are those with evil and wicked hearts with the intent of harming us.
“If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.”
This means that we should not seek revenge upon others, but it does not mean that we should not defend ourselves or our loved ones. Even Jesus told His disciples to go out and purchase swords for protection, and the sword at that time was a very deadly weapon, comparable to a hand gun of today.
Be alert, be cautious, and stand firm in God’s word. Know who you are in Christ and where you are going. Pray for courage and strength, wisdom and understanding, faith and guidance. Listen to the Holy Spirit within and follow His lead.
God bless my friends! Maranatha!
