The Bread of Life! The Only Way to Heaven!

Commentary By:  Gordon King

As it is written man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God!

Matthew 4:4

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

Bread, food for the physical body gives us strength, it gives us life.  Without food we cannot sustain ourselves for very long.  However, it is by the word of God that we truly have life!

John 6:35

And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

What in the world does Jesus mean when He says that He is the bread of life?!

Jesus is referring to eternal life!  Whomever partakes of the bread of life (Jesus Christ) shall have eternal life.  Whomever only partakes of the physical bread of this world will surely die.

John 6:53-58

Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

When we accept Christ as our Savior we are partaking in the bread of life, we have been given eternal life, we shall never die!  Of course this does not mean physically, but spiritually.  Our spirits will live on with God forever!

There is only one way to heaven, one way to obtain eternal life, and that way is by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior!  He is the way, the truth, and the life.

John 14:6

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

The words of God are true, powerful, and everlasting!  They have the power to heal, the power to change, and the power to save.  We must not forsake the wisdom of the Lord or ignore the power of His might.  He has always been and is everlasting.  There is nothing that He does not already know, past, present, and future!  And yet He still saved us, knowing who we are, what we have done, and what we will do in the future.  This is the love, mercy, and grace of God Almighty!

God loves us so very much, all that He is asking in return is for us to love Him back!  This is true worship of God, to love Him.  When we obey God, when we perform His will, and when we follow His lead then we are worshiping God.  When we praise God, thank God, and give the glory to God we are worshiping God.  When we help each other, encourage each other, and carry each others burdens then we are worshiping God.  When we do all of these things then we are loving God!  To love God is to obey God, to love God is to believe God, and to love God is to have faith in Him alone.  Love Him with all of your heart, bow down and give Him thanks, meditate on God and love Him, commune with Him.  This is true worship!

If you are not already saved then I strongly urge you to do so now!  Our time on this earth is so very short, you just don’t know how much of it you have left.  Why wait until it’s too late!  Become a child of God and reserve for yourself eternal life!

Accept Jesus Christ now as your personal Lord and Savior!

God bless my friends!  Maranatha!
